He rolled over!

Braden finally rolled over this morning!  Since he turned 4 months old we've really been pushing for Braden to roll over (well, not that we can really make a baby roll over, but we've been giving im a lot more tummy and floor time).  I have close to an hour of video of Braden ALMOST rolling over and of course when he finally does roll over, I don't have the video camera handy.  The boys and I were upstairs in my room and Jacob was getting dressed.  Braden was laying on the floor next to me doing his usual rolling on his side.  I was giving Jacob his shirt and then looked down at Braden and there he was about to go all the way over and the next second, he was completely on his tummy and looked up at me (as if he was looking for praise).  He was so adorable.  I'm sad I didn't get it on video, but at least I saw it.  Unfortunately, it happened so fast that I couldn't call daddy into the room.  Both Bill and I were there to watch Jacob roll over for the first time and even caught it on video, but poor Braden...only I will have it in my memory forever!

We are so proud of our little guy.  Great that he's rolling over, but now we really have to be careful when we set him down.

So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

Braden's 4 month checkup

Our baby is already 4 months old.  I still can't believe how fast time is going.  He has brought more joy to our lives than we ever could have imagined.  He continues to be such a good baby.  He is sleeping through the night for the most part.  He has his nights when he wakes up, but I can't complain.  Yesterday Jacob and I took Braden to his doctor's appointment.  He was all smiles when the nurse weighed him in.  He is 16 lbs 12oz and is 26 inches long.  He has grown 2 inches in the last two months!  He is 4lbs heavier and 1/4 inch longer than Jacob was at this age. He definitely likes to eat!  He was such a good boy during his appointment, despite all the spitup which the doctor says is totally normal and will start to subside now and hopefully be totally gone by 6 months, lets hope because the laundry is out of control!  He has hit all of his milestones execpt rollying over.  Dr. Koutures said we should give him more tummy time to allow him to roll over faster.  He got two shots and had one vaccination given orally.  He didn't cry that much with his shots.  Jacob was standing over him saying "it's okay Braden" while the nurse stuck him.

After the appointment we were on our way to Angel's Stadium to buy tickets for Jacob and daddy and others to go to Monster Jam.  Jacob was so excited as we pulled into Angel's Stadium.  He remembered going to the Angel game with daddy.  He asked me if I remembered that daddy took him there "yesterday".  For Jacob anything that happened in the past is "yesterday".

When we got home both boys took a long nap with mommy (and daddy ended up joining us too).  Jacob hasn't been feeling too well, so a nap for him was much needed.  I have found that Braden sleeps much better and longer at night when he takes a good nap during the day.  It's hard to do that when Jacob has us running around iwth his busy schedule, so when I can stay home in the afternoon I take advantage and put him down for a good nap. Jacob had a fever the other day which completely freaks me out, so for the past two nights he was sleeping in our bed.  Does not make for a comfortable nights sleep for either daddy or me, but at least I had a close eye on him all night long.

Jacob is done with his physical therapy.  Last Friday was his last session.  He made some progress.  He went from 0 flexiblity in his foot to about 5-10 percent, not great, but an improvement nonetheless and we'll take it.  Daddy and I are supposed to be stretching him everyday, but I have to admit we haven't done it everyday.  We have to get better at stretching him everyday so his problem improves instead of gets worse.  I don't want him to have any long term effects from all of this.

We are going to try and stay low this week so that Jacob can get back to 100% by the weekend.

So until next time...mommy and daddy love you, our growing boys!

Braden's 2 month check up

On Friday Braden turned 2 months old.  I still can't believe he's already been in this world for 2 months!  Our little guy is a big boy!  He had his 2 month check up today.  He weighed in at 14 pounds and is 24 inches long.  He is in the 90th percentil for his height and the 95th for his weight.  I guess we can safely say he's a chunker :)  Jacob and I were telling him he is a chunky baby while we were in the room waiting for the doctor to come in.  He's bigger than his big brother was at this point, so we'll see how he continues to grow.  I'm sure at some point they will even out.  Dr. Koutures says he's growing great and is a healthy boy.  He checked him from head to toe and everything looks great.  Poor little guy had 3 shots today and had to swallow one vaccine.  He was a good boy (like his big brother) and drank all the vaccine and of course he cried when he got his shots, but mommy picked him up right away and he shortly calmed down.  He should have been hungry after he got his shots, but instead he fell asleep, which allowed us to go straight home.

Last week I noticed that there was white stuff on his tongue that wouldn't come off and after a call to the doctor we discovered that he has Thrush.  He is currently on some medication and it seems to be clearing up, unfortunately it can take up to two weeks to clear up.  he doesn't like the taste of the medicine and cries everytime I give him the medicine, but it needs to be done.  He is currently eating 5 ounces of formula at each feeding.  During the day he eats approximately every 3 hours.  Some nights he will stretch out his feeding to 5 or even 6 hours and then he will go 4 hours between his early early morning feeding and his early morning feeding.  It seems as though no matter what time we feed him last at night he wakes up at about 1 or 2 for a feeding and then again between 4 and 5 in the morning.  He's up a lot during the day and LOVES to be talked to and sung to (expecially by Jacob).  He smiles and coos at us.  I LOVE his smile, even if it's 2 in the morning.

Now for Jacob...he's a silly little boy.  For the last few months he's been dancing around the house singing "sha shake your peanut" We had no idea where he got this saying from and why he decided to dance around to it.  At first I thought he got it from Bill teaching him how to use the potty standing up.  I thought he was saying "shake your penis" but it just sounded like peanut, but I was wrong.  The other morning Jacob was in his bathroom going potty and I was in there helping him and I heard "Shake shake shake your peanut" coming from my room.  I went into the room and saw Mickey Mouse singing that song!  AAAHHHH, that's where he got it from.  The characters on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse were shaking their bodies to the tune "shake shake shake your peanut, baby elephant come down that tree"  I was laughing so hard when I finally realized where he the saying.  So now both Jacob and I will walk around the house singing "shake shake shake your peanut" and Braden smiles when he hears oen of us singing that song to him.

Jacob is finally consistently going poo poo in the potty.  He still doesn't quite make it to the bathroom before something STARTS to come out, but at least we aren't having big poops in his underwear everytime.  He gets excited when he hears his poop plop down into the potty.  I'm proud of him and he will even tell me he has to go poopoo when he is playing at the park.  I'm thinking by his birthday in a month, he will be completely potty trained.

okay, that's all for now, so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!
