Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!  Jacob dressed up like Tigger today.  He was so adorable.  This morning after his morning nap, we got ready and went to visit Papa at his office.  We met everyone he works with and took him a treat, yummy lemon bars!  Then we went to Nani's office to say hi to her and Uncle Dave.  While there Jacob took another couple of steps a few times.  I fear that more and more steps are in our future.  It's actually really exciting though.  I really thought he wouldn't be attempting to walk until closer to his birthday, but I guess when he's ready, he's ready.

After our late morning visits we came home, ate lunch and then took another nap in preparation for another Halloween outing.  In the afternoon we went to city hall where they decorated all the office buildings and were giving out lots of candy.  Jacob scored with 5 pieces of candy.  He got a twizzler, starburst, sixlets, reeses peanut butter cup and a butterfinger.  Most of the time I told them not to give him candy, but when I saw the girl holding a peanut butter cup and butterfinger,  I kept my mouth shut and let her throw it into his pumpkin.  It was pretty warm outside, so we left his costume unzipped with the hood off.  On the way home, Jacob threw a fit.  It took me about 30 minutes to calm him down once we got home.  After a few teething tablets, he finally calmed down and took another nap.

When he woke up, we had a quick dinner and then we were off again for our final Halloween outing.  The three of us went to our church's Family Fest.  There were TONS of kids there.  Jacob had a great time just looking around at everything that was going on.  We took a family picture, good thing they were taking pictures otherwise we wouldn't have had a family picture of this event!  Then Jacob went into the petting zoo and pet a cute goat.  He wasn't too sure about touching them at first, he was content just sitting next to one of the goats, but daddy stood him up and then he was able to feel the little goat.  He also rode on a train with mommy, we were the caboose!  After walking around a little more we were all pooped and we knew it was time to go because it was getting a little too close to bed time.

So now we are home, out little Tigger is asleep and mommy and daddy each have one candy bar to eat...I say this was a good day.  so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

All in all, we had a fun day

A night of "Firsts"

I just have to say that my son Jacob is SOOOO CUTE! Well, he wasn't so cute when he woke up at 5:30 this morning, but after that he was so adorable. We played around this morning and then we had to go to Nani and Papa's house to let the guys working on their kitchen in. After that we came home, Jacob took a fairly long nap while mommy was able to get a lot of cleaning done. Then we went grocery shopping. This is the best Jacob has been while at the grocery store. I think it's because about half way through the shopping I gave him a teething biscuit. Those things are MESSY and boy was he a MESS by the time I got to the checkout. He had crumbs all over his face...literally all over his face, all over his cheeks, on his forehead, even on one of his eyelids. He had the stuff all over his hands and halfway up his forearm. The cart cover was FILTHY, but he was having a good time eating his biscuit. He was making so much noise while eating it...he was definitely enjoying it. On the way home, he had another fit and I knew his poor teeth were hurting him again. So he got some teething tablets when we got home and took another nap.

After dinner, daddy was rolling him around in his dump truck. Yes, daddy sits Jacob in the dump part of the truck and "drives" him around the family room. It's actually cute and Jacob loves it (and daddy loves it because he gets to make truck noises as he's driving it). Anyway, I was waving to Jacob saying bye-bye as he was driving past me and HE WAVED AT ME!!! This was a true wave this time...not him trying to get food off his hand. He stopped and I waved at him again and he waved back. Oh it was the most adorable thing I've every seen...I got a little teary eyed. So precious!

THEN...daddy made mommy go get him some Golden Spoon and this is when the MAJOR even occured...here's daddy to tell the rest...

Hi.  This is daddy.  So I have some really BIG news about Jacob.  About 1 minute after mommy left to go to Golden Spoon I had Jacob facing the couch as he was standing up and I called him to walk to me with my arms held out and guess WHAT???... he took 4 steps to me.  I was so excited and couldn't believe it!!!  I tried calling mommy and she forgot to take her cell phone with her so I had to save the news until her return.  So the trick for those new parents out there is to hold out your arms while being close enough to catch your baby.  Then they might just walk to you!!!!  Today is a day we'll never forget!!!  It was funny because after his last step, he got nervous and realized what he was really doing.  He then froze up and fell down.  You're cute Jacob!  So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!!!

Teething again

We finally made it to church this morning.  We haven't been in a few weeks for various (poor) reasons.  Unfortunately, we weren't able to make it through the whole service.  Jacob got up this morning at about 5:45am, which then threw his morning routine off a bit.  When we left for church, he was already tired and should have been sleeping.  I was thinking I would just let him nap during the service.  Well, when we got there, he fell asleep during the worship, but only slept maybe 10 minutes, then he woke up crying...so we went into the mommy room.  He was fine there, playing with his toys (and taking other kids toys) and then all of a sudden he started crying (and pretty loud too!).  So of course I thought he was sleepy.  I tried putting him to sleep, but he kept screaming.  So I took him outside, where he calmed down a little, but then started screaming again.  I realized it was time for a bottle.  So back into the room for a bottle.  He drank a couple of ounces and started SCREAMING again.  That was it, I packed up our stuff and took him outside again.  We sat by the fountain for a little and he was okay, then the screaming started again.  He didn't want his bottle, he didn't want to sleep, he was teething.  Yesterday I saw his two upper teeth wanting to break through.  Then in the morning during his breakfast I noticed a dark blue spot on his gums over what will eventually be his right front tooth.  So we called Grandma Gloria to see what she said about it...apparently it's normal.  So I know that he is teething again.  So anyway, back to the church story...I texted daddy to tell him we needed to go.  All the way home Jacob was SCREAMING!!!!!!  He was crying so much that he started to gag himself and when we were about 2 miles from home...he gagged so much that all of his bottle came back up, onto his shirt, jeans, carseat and me!  Yuck!  Poor baby.  We got home I took off his jeans and gave him some teething tablets.  Once he took those he fell asleep for about 1 1/2 hours and then he was pretty much fine the rest of the day.  Unfortunately, we were supposed to meet one of daddy's friends for lunch (Bruce and Taylor).  So daddy had to go to the lunch alone, but then they came back to our house to hang out for a little while.  I hope those teeth come in soon.

Yesterday, Jacob, nani and I went to "My Gym".  A new one opened up by our house and they had an open house.  So we went to check it out. Jacob had a GREAT time there.  HE was climbing up and down all over the mats there.  Of course he found a little girl to fall in love with and they seemed to keep running by eachother.  they were so cute.  He loved climing up on one of the larger mats and then climb off of it.  I thought we would just check out the place and maybe stay 30 minutes...we were there for 2 hours and Jacob was non stop the whole time.  Fortunately, Nani and I were able to get a 10 minute chair massage when we were there (but now both of us are sore today!  so much for a massage!).  Daddy was able to come for the last hour and he and Jacob had a great time climbing over everything.

This past week Jacob and I stayed in most of the week.  Jacob was still getting over his cough and the air outside was yucky.  There were many wildfires going on in Lake Arrowhead, Orange County, by Magic Mountain and in San Diego.  It was so windy last Sunday and Monday which didn't help the firefighters.  Our house smelled like smoke on Sunday night and we weren't really close to any of the fires.  Anyway, we stayed in to make sure Jacob didn't inhale that dirty air.  Jim, Jen and Matt got evacuated from their house in SD for one night.  We were praying for them that they would be able to return to their home unharmed, and they did!

Other than that we had a pretty boring week staying inside.  This weekend was fairly good.  Jacob has been waking up VERY early...which is not pleasing to mommy and daddy.  He's been waking up somewhere between 5:30 and 6:00 am.  I'm not quite sure why.  He's been going to sleep at about the same time as usual.  Anyway, I am hoping that trend ends soon because I'm not a big fan of waking up that early!

Well, this week is Halloween and Jacob is all ready to show off his Tigger costume at City Hall during the day and then at church at night.  We can hardly wait.  So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

Jacob's first cough and some other fun stuff

Well, it had to happen one day.  Jacob is sick.  The fever was up and down all day Monday and then it finally broke Tuesday morning.  We've stayed in all week (the weather has been pretty gloomy) in hopes that Jacob did't really get too sick.  He was coughing just a little during the week, but nothing major.  Today he started coughing and I could hear that there is some stuff in there that needs to come out.  He even broke a blood vessel in his right eye, probably from coughing.  Poor baby, he's never had a cough before and his little eye just can't handle it.  I did end up calling the doctor this afternoon to get some advice on how to make him feel more comfortable.  The nurse suggested putting a humidifier in his room, so of course once daddy got home from work, there I was at the store buying on (I also bought him a toy since he is not feeling well...this kid is spoiled).  I could tell that today he was not feeling well because he was not as playful as he usually is.  he was very clingy to me today and took three naps instead of his usual two.  He didn't have much of an apetite either in the afternoon and evening and he didn't fuss that much when I was changing his diaper, I say that much because this morning he had a poopy diaper and was squirming so much that he got it all over his leg and his sleeper...yuck!!  I hope he is feeling better soon.  I hate to hear him cough and there is nothing I can do.  I wish I could stick a tube down there and suck all the yucky stuff out without it hurting him.  Since I can't do that, all I can do is pray that he gets over this cough quickly so he can go back to being himself.

Now some fun stuff.  Lately he's been sticking out his tounge when he is playing.  It looks so cute.  Sometimes when he has his pacifier in in the morning and I go into his room when he wakes up, he'll take his pacifier out and start sticking out his tounge and moving it around.  So funny.  He also loves to play "I'm going to get you" either Bill or I will get on our hands and knees and "chase" him around the house.  He will crawl away from us really fast and then stop adn turn to look at us, then we say  "I'm gonna get you" and act like we are going to get him and he turns around so fast and starts crawling away.  He is so funny.  I like to play that game when he is climbing the stairs and he's taking too long and I want to get upstairs to get something done.  He will sometimes stop and turn around to make sure I am there and all I have to say is "I'm gonna" and he turns around and takes off up the stairs.  We've also discovered he loves chicken (partially because that is what we eat a lot) but he really likes it, that and his bread.  I think he might be allergic to cheese.  I've given it to him several times but the last two times he's had it a rash has developed around his mouth.  I really hope he's not allergic to milk or anything like that...that will stink...how can my son not like cheese!?!?

Alright, it's getting late and I need to get my rest to be able to take care of you tomorrow...so until next time...Mommy and Daddy love you!

Happy Birthday Mommy...Jacob has a fever!

Sunday was my birthday (32!).  Saturday we had some family over for pizza and pie and had a good time.  Jacob had a great time visiting with everyone.  He had such a great time that he didn't want to take his afternoon nap.  He was so tired, but determined to stay up and play with his cousins and aunts and uncles.  He was so funny!

On Sunday, Jacob woke up late (8:30) mostly because he kept his daddy up most of the night.  We went to a birthday party for his friend, Christian.  Jacob was pretty mellow at the party.  He really wasn't even in the mood to play even though his friend Drew was there too!  He actually fell asleep in his daddy's arms during the party...very unusual for him.  After the party, Nani and Papa came over to watch Jacob so daddy could take me out for my birthday.  We had a great time together.  We went to see a movie and then got some ice cream...yum yum.  When we got home, Jacob was still awake and when I picked him up, he felt really hot.  I kept feeling his head and really thought he had a fever.  After my parents left we took Jacob's temp and it was 100.7.  So we gave him some tylenol and he slept with me that night.  He was pretty restless all night and woke up with a 100.6 temp.  During the day he was a little less like himself.  he still played, but he also slept a lot more than usual.  He was also coughing a little bit.  In the afternoon his temp had gone down to 99.3 so I thought he was getting better but then daddy took his temp right before dinner and it was 101.  So more tylenol and then a little while later he went to sleep.  I hope he is not getting sick.  I'm hoping that the temp is from teething.  If he still has a temp tomorrow I will call the doctor.  He has a fairly good apetite, though he didn't finish all of his bottles today, except for his night bottle.

I hope he is feeling better tomorrow...so until then...mommy and daddy love you

Playing Catchup

We had a pretty busy week.  Monday Jacob got together with his friend Aiden and went to Irvine Park again.  The boys played well together at our house.  Jacob was very excited to see his friend.  They spent a few minutes just touching eachother and then we made our way to the park.  First they explored the pumpkin patch and both tried eating the hay and leaves.  Then we went on the train which I think they both liked.  After that we took a walk to the zoo.  On the way there were lots of ducks by the lake so we stopped and fed them some bread.  The boys really liked watching the ducks, Jacob couldn't get his eyes off them.  It must have been nap time for the animals in the zoo because most of them were either hiding or asleep and really hard to see.  Aiden decided to join the animals in a nap and fell asleep at the zoo and was pretty much asleep the whole time.  Jacob got out of the stroller a couple of times to try and see the animals.  his favorites were the Alpaca and the Mountain Lion (they were the only two really awake and doing anything).  Then we went back to the pumpkin patch to try to take a picture of the boys next to the big pumpkins.  Jacob had other plans though.  He wanted to climb on the pumpkins rather than sit next to them.  Aiden was being a good boy and sitting next to the pumpkin waiting for Jacob to settle down to take a picture.  Unfortunately, the picture didn't really happen.  Well we did get one with Jacob crying in it because I made him sit down...oh well.

Tuesday we stayed home and ran a couple of errands, then Nani and Papa came over for dinner, but when they arrived we got some not so good news...Andrew was in the hospital having tests run on him because he was complaining of blurred vision and headaches.  Oh no...of course we thought the worst.  We started praying right away and then later that night we got news that everything was clear.  Thank God!  they are still in the process of figuring out what caused those symptoms...but as long as it wasn't the C word, then we are okay!  At lunch, Jacob ate some bread, cheese and smashed carrots.  While eating I noticed some red splotches around his mouth.  I thought it was from the carrots, so we stopped eating, he took a nap and then redness went away.  Oh no, is he allergic to carrots???

Wednesday night we went to pick up Jacob's pictures at the mall.  He looked great.  Nani wasn't to happy with the placement of the wings, so they are going to re-do them for us and we will pick them up early next week.

Thursday we got together with Matthew and his mommy, Auntie Jen.  We met in Temecula and the boys played in a park for a little while.  Then we went to lunch where Matt and Jacob had a great time sharing some food.  Jacob wanted Matt's kidney beans and Matt wanted some of Jacob's bananas.  They are soo cute and Matt is getting so big.

Friday, during lunch I gave Jacob some cheese and noticed the red splotches again...I guess it wasn't the carrots...its the cheese!  Oh well.  After daddy got off work, we took a drive to Victoria Gardens and bought Jacob some shoes that he really needs.  He is in stage two and wears a size four.  The salesperson said his has wide feet (and big ones too!).  The shoes are really cute and I can't wait to see him wear them.  he has been wearing his robeez, but he can't wear them with socks and without the socks the elastic leaves red marks on his feet and I don't like that.

Today we were supposed to go apple picking but when we woke up it was raining and pretty cold outside.  Oh well, maybe another time.  later this afternoon some family are coming over to celebrate my birthday.  Nothing special, just low key.  So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

A fun birthday for Cousin Lucas!

Today Jacob had a good time at his cousin Lucas' 2nd birthday party at Irvine Park.  It was so much fun.  There was a bounce house, some tubes to crawl through and then we got to ride on the train.  Aly rode with us over there and then Jacob and Aly went in the bounce house together.  They had a great time.  Jacob couldn't bounce but he had fun crawling around and pulling himself up at the edges.  Then he went to crawl around the tubes.  I didn't think he would actually crawl through it, but he did and loved it.  We also got to ride on a train, Jacob loved looking around has we rode through the park.  The train dropped us off right near a really cool pumpkin patch.  So we put on his Tigger costume and took lots of pictures of him in his costume.  He was so adorable.  he was playing with the pumpkins and the leaves on the ground.  Of course we went picture crazy...so much so that we ran out of space on the camera!  So I had to go through and delete some pictures on the camera so I could take some more!  Overall Jacob had a great time at his cousins birthday party.  We will definitely have to go back to that park again soon!

On the way home we stopped at Uncle Jeff and Auntie Di's house.  Grandma was there visiting so we had a great time talking with everyone.  Jacob spent most of the time "exploring" their house and I was right there behind him because their house isn't exactly "Jacob proof"....but he had fun climbing on Auntie Di's exercise equipment.

we finally got home after a really long day and all of us are pooped...so until next time...mommy and daddy love yoU!

Jacob, the angel

This afternoon Jacob had his 9 month pictures taken.  We decided to have some special pictures taken this month.  He took his "angel" pictures and Nani was very excited about that since she collects angels.  He also took a really cute picture in a bath tub with rubber duckies.  They are both so adorable.  I can hardly wait to get the final products.  He was a very good boy when taking the pictures.  He was a little fussy all day and I was a little nervous that he would be fussy during the pictures, but he was a good boy!  We tried taking pictures of him in some overalls and in his halloween costume, but he was not excited about doing that...so we just didn't order them.  No biggie (actually saved us some money).

Tonight at dinner, he finally picked up at ate on his own some peas, green beans and corn.  He usually lets them sit on the tray and makes me feed them to him, but not tonight...he's becoming a big boy!  he even refused the strained peas and went for the "real stuff" instead.

Alright, that's it for today...I'm tired and can't think of anything else to write...so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

Daddy's Home!

Jacob and I went to pick up daddy at the airport this morning.  Daddy was so happy to see both of us, but especially Jacob.  When Jacob saw his daddy he got a BIG smile on his face and went right to him...it was so cute to see.  We made our way to Disneyland directly from the airport.  It is decorated for Halloween with lots of pumpkins, it looked really neat.  We went on the Carousel for the first time.  I think Jacob liked it.  Then we headed to It's a Small World.  Jacob was looking around at all the dolls, but about 3/4 of the way through, he turned around, put his head on my shoulder and fell asleep...daddy said it's no wonder that he fell asleep...the ride is so boring!  I don't think so, he was tired and it was nap time!  When he woke up we went to the Big Thunder Ranch so Jacob could have some lunch.  Woody, Jesse, and the horse were putting on a show.  Afterward, Jesse and Woody hung around to take pictures with kids.  When the line died down, Jesse came over to Jacob and started playing with him in his stroller.  Jacob was mesmerized with her.  He would not take his eyes off her even with me calling his name for him to look at me so I could take a picture.  He was just looking at her and smiling.  She was playing with him and tickling him...it was so cute.  I think he was a little sad when she left him!  At the end of the day we waited in line for Nemo (only about 30-40 minutes.  Again, Jacob fell asleep on the ride.  I didn't like the new ride that much.  It was pretty scary especially for little kids and it was REALLY loud in the sub.  I'm surprised he even fell asleep.

We got home, had dinner and then daddy gave Jacob a bath.  We are so glad daddy is home again.  We both missed him a lot.  Tomorrow we are taking Jacob's 9 month pictures.  I can't believe he is already nine months old.  So until next time...mommy and daddy love yoU!

Daddy comes home tomorrow!

Jacob is climbing up the walls now...almost literally.  This little boy has so much energy...it's funny.

On Monday we hung out at the house for a little bit, then we decided to go to the park in the late afternoon when the playground was shaded.  Jacob spent some time kicking it on the swing.  He was leaning back and enjoying the wind go through his hair.  I was pushing him pretty high and he was loving it.  Then we made our way over to the "baby" jungle gym.  Jacob had a great time climbing up the stairs and stopping at each level to see what fun thing there was for him to do there.  He was cracking me up.  We talked to daddy when we got home and told him how much we missed him.  Jacob is starting to eat more foods now, but some of them he still has a problem touching so mommy has to put them in his mouth for him.  This kid is getting WAY too spoiled.  I need to stop it now before it gets out of hand.

Tuesday we took off in the morning for a trip to Babies R Us to return a halloween costume that is going to be too small for Jacob.  Then we went to the mall and walked around a bit.  I made an appointment to have his picture taken at the expensive picture place, but Nani HAS to have Jacob in a picture looking like an angel!  I was hoping that while we walked around he would fall asleep since it was pretty much his nap time, but no such luck.  he did fall asleep on the ride home though.  When we got home we played a little bit and then Nani picked him up to take him to her house so that they could have dinner with Papa and Auntie and Uncle.  Apparently Jacob tried some chicken and had a funny look on his face:)  I went out with the girls to celebrate Margaret's birthday and had a really good time.  By the time I got home Jacob was sound asleep.  He was a pretty good boy Tuesday night so I was able to get more rest than ususal.

This morning we woke up early and I was hoping to take Jacob to our church's mommy and me class.  Most of the time we are not able to go becasue Jacob is napping, but he's been waking up earlier and napping earlier so I thought we would be able to make it...nope, Jacob decided to take a late nap today at 9:45.  Since mommy and me starts at 10, we definitely did not make that one.  Oh well hopefully next week.  so when he woke up we went on a quick shopping trip and then made our way to Jen Nicastro's house to visit the newly born, Joseph Nicastro who is 5 1/2 weeks old.  He is SOOOOO cute!  Of course he was sleeping most of the time that we were there, but he was adorable.  Jacob was intrigued by him and of course wanted to touch him, but he doesn't really know what "nice" touching is yet, so I had to keep him away from the baby.  But, Jacob had a good time exploring their new house, which is GORGEOUS!  When we got home we had some dinner.  Auntie Sonnia made some spaghetti and meatballs and sent some over with Nani for us.  Jacob loved the meatballs! and he even picked up the zucchini and ate it on his own...that's a first.  he was definitely a healthy eater today, he ate a whole banana today (not in one sitting though), which shocked the heck out of me!, plus some cheerios, carrots (smashed), peas, some bagel, and his breakfast and dinner.  He is loving this eating thing now...which is a good thing.  Tonight at bed time he was not ready to go to bed.  Nani was here and was playing with him and at 8:15 the two of them were laughing up a storm.  CRAZY!  Finally I was able to put him down to sleep sometime around 8:30 or 8:45...I can only imagine what is going to happen when he gets older and spends the night with Nani and Papa....I'm sure bed time will not be in their vocabulary!  That's okay though...what happens and Nani and Papas stays and Nani and Papas...

tomorrow morning we are leaving early to pick up daddy at the airport and then hopefully head over to Disneyland for a few hours of fun in the park.  We can't wait to see daddy...it seems like he's been gone forever.  So until next time...mommy and daddy love you (and daddy misses you a lot!)
