lots of catching up

So it's been a while since our last post.  Jacob is loving the walking thing.  He rarely crawls now and likes to walk around the island in the kitchen several times.  Last Friday daddy put up the christmas lights outside.  Jacob tried to help as much as he could.  In the process he fell on the driveway and scraped up his nose :(  Poor baby.  He screamed, of course, but there was only a time drop of blood coming out of the top right of his nose.  it wasn't until a few days later that it scabbed up and looked terrible...so much for taking Christmas pictures this week.  Hopefully by next week the scab will be gone and we can get some good pictures.  Later that afternoon the three of us went to the park.  Jacob went down the little slide all by himself and he loved it.  Then he tried climbing up the slide, which went unsuccessful.  when we got home Jacob helped me decorate the Christmas tree.  He got his two ornaments and hung them on the tree.  Luckily he doesn't like the way the tree feels so he will only stand near it and look at the lights, but he doesn't touch it...woo hoo.  He doesn't have access to it most of the time anyway since that part of the house is off limits to Jacob.

Sunday we spent the day walking around the Orange County Swap Meet.  Jacob was a good boy in his stroller.  At one point we did let him out of the stroller and he began to push the stroller up the aisle.  When he heard music coming from one of the vendors, he stopped, listened for a few seconds, then started bouncing to the beat.  People walking by stopped to watch him "dance" and were commenting on how cute he was dancing there.  That's Jacob...whenever he hears music he has to dance.  Unfortunately he likes the rap music...he really gets into that one.  Daddy will put on some rap music and Jacob will get down, we just have to make sure he doesn't know what they are saying in the songs.  We try to put music on during the day to let him groove to the beat.  He is so cute when he really gets going...he is bouncing and his arms are moving up and down.

I started a workout class this week and Jacob loves it because we meet at a park, he gets to eat snacks while being pushed around the park and then when my workout is done he gets to play in the park with other kids.  He LOVES it.  He tries to go around the "big" kids and do what they are doing, buy I have to hold him back sometimes...he's just a little to small to be climbing up ladders already.  Anyway, his friend Christian is also there and they get a long so well with eachother.  They try to hold hands when they are in the strollers watching their mommies doing situps and stuff.  They are just too adorable when they make eachother laugh.

Wednesday afternoon Jacob got a flu shot.  Of course he screamed when they gave it to him, but he only cried for a few seconds.  After holding him for less than a minute he saw the toys outside and squirmed to get down so he could go play.  Good thing they have very short term memory.  The next day he spent about 30 minutes at Nani's work while I had a dentist appointment.  When I picked him up my mom told me he felt a little warm.  Sure enough, when we got home, he had a temp of 101.6.  So I gave him some tylenol and he took a 2 1/2 hour nap...when he woke up he was as good as can be.  Strange...I just hope he doesn't get sick.

So this past week his favorite things to do are dance and walk around...that's pretty much it. This weekend we will be busy.  Two birthday parties.  Aiden's birthday is on Saturday and Luke's on Sunday...so I'm sure we will have lots of fun.  So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

Happy Thanksgiving

Jacob's first Thanksgiving Day was a great day.  It started off wonderful because for the first time Jacob slept through the night last night!  Bill and I woke up at about 6am asking each other if either one of us got up with Jacob during the night.  To our amazement we had not!  He actgually slept until 7am without a peep all night!  Oh my goodness...let's hope this becomes the norm.

We went to have Thanksgiving dinner at Nani and Papa's house.  Grandma and Grandpa were there too and saw Jacob walking for the first time.  Grandma just could not believe that Jacob was already walking, I think she was in a bit of shock when he came out walking to her.  We had dinner with Nani, Papa, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle RJ (Auntie Sonnia had to work), Grand Nina, Vanessa and Anissa (Phil and PJ had to stay home because PJ was not feeling well).  Jacob had a first today...he was taking a picture with his daddy and Grandma and then out of nowhere he started clapping.  Then we all got excited and he started to clap some more...he was so adorable.  Gosh, he is just on a roll this week with doing new things.  At dinner (which was a little later than expected because the turkey took a little longer to cook), Jacob grubbed on turkey, mashed potatoes, greenbeans and stuffing.  He LOVED the turkey.  He was making his mmmmm noises when eating.  when he got some green beans on his plate, he decided to share some of his veggies with Harley, who was waiting right underneath Jacob's chair.  That dog is smart...he knows that Jacob drops a lot of his food on the floor and he was right there to eat it up...what Harley didn't know was that Jacob would actually give him some food.

So Jacob had a great time walking all over the house showing off to everyone.  When some music came on he showed off his dancing moves by bouncing up at down to the beat...I must say, the kid has some rythmn.  He also made sure to show off his 6 teeth to everyone.  He now has his two front teeth, one on the top left and one on the bottom left.  He is looking so different now with his two front teeth.  One of them is about half way through and the other about 3/4 of the way through, but they look so big in his little mouth.  It seems like he is changing every day!

We had a wonderful day and are so thankful for our families and all of our health.  This year was a wonderful year full of many blessings.  We could not ask for anything more.  We are obviously most thankful for our beautiful baby, Jacob.  He has been such a blessing in our lives.  I don't know what we did before having him.  Life seems so much fuller now because of him.  We thank God for our healthy and happy little boy.  So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

First Parade

This afternoon mommy, daddy and Jacob went to Disneyland to watch Cousin Whitney march in the parade.  Her band marched down mainstreet and she was leading the pack as the assistant drum major.  She looked so cute and Jacob was fascinated with the band.  We stayed sitting a little longer until the Christmas Parade came by.  I was a little worried that Jacob would get grouchy.  He really didn't nap the whole time we were at Disneyland and the parade didn't start until 6:30...but he was totally into watching the parade.  There were some cheerios in his stroller tray (which he LOVES) and he completely stopped eating them when the parade came by.  As soon as the parade was over, he immediatley dove into his left over cheerios.  So I'm going to take a wild guess and say that he LOVED the parade.  Before the parade we went to California Adventure.  I took Jacob on the catepillar ride (I have no idea what the name of that ride is).  Anyway, now that he's a big boy and can walk, I let him walk through the line.  Well, he tried, but most of the time he tried walking in the wrong direction.  He was walking toward the entrance of the line instead of toward the ride.  I think the problem was that there was a cute little girl behind us, and of course, he's Jacob and he wanted to see the little girl more!  We finally made it to the front and he really liked the ride.  Later in Toon Town, I let him roam around a little playground they have there.  He was so excited to be moving around on two feet and tried walking up to other kids his size.  It was so cute to watch him go for it.  As I stood there watching him, I couldn't believe that was my little baby already walking.  It made me a little sad to know that he is growing up, but then I was also excited to see him growing up.  I guess I have mixed emotions about him starting to walk.  Anyway, he had a blast in the playground there.  I had never realized that was there..it's amazing what you discover trying to find something for a toddler to do at Disneyland besides waiting in line.  It was pretty crowded today so I really didn't want to wait in the long lines with him.  The playground was a great alternative to riding on the rides.

so we had a great day today.  Tomorrow is Thanksgiving.  We will be going to Nani and Papa's house.  Grandma and Grandpa will also be there, so we are excited to be with our families on Thanksgiving.  So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

Get out of the way, cuz I'm walkin here!

It's official...Jacob is walking.  All of a sudden today he was walking all over the place.  Since taking his first steps about two weeks ago, he would take a couple of steps and then decide to get down and crawl to his final destination.  Well, not today.  He started taking steps and kept going.  I could not believe it.

This morning he woke up late at almost 8am.  He had a bit of a restless night, but he wasn't too bad I was surprised that he slept in so late.  He threw a MAJOR tantrum this morning after his nap.  I think he woke up too early (because of a phone call) and when I tried putting him back to sleep he did not like that.  It was so bad Bill even came down from his office.  He was finally able to calm him down.  It was almost as if Jacob was mad at me for something.  Anyway, about 30 minutes later (and it was a crabby 30 minutes) he finally fell back asleep.  He woke up just in time to have lunch and get ready for his friends Christian and Drew to come over to play.  The boys had a great time together.  Christian and Jacob were once again laughing it up when they saw each other.  Jacob was a little mean (obviously unintentionally) to Christian.  He tried to scratch his eyeball out and then pulled his hair so hard that it made Christian cry (and he's not much of a cry baby).  When Drew arrived the boys played together for a little bit but then Christian had to go because he was getting sleepy.  Drew and Jacob played a little longer.  Of course as always with babies, when one of them got a toy, the other immediatley went and wanted to play with it.  I really hope Jacob learns to share and play well with other kids.  So far, he loves kids, but he doesn't know that sometimes when he uses them as a crutch to stand up it hurts them.  I'm hoping that the more he plays with other children the more he will learn how to play nicely.

Anyway, while the boys were here, he was walking all over the place.  It was amazing.  I finally caught the steps on video.  Two weeks and the little bugger never took a step in front of the video camera.

Daddy gave Jacob dinner today.  Before we knew it, he had eaten an entire drumstick, a container of carrots and part of a bagel, and if we would have given him more, he would have eaten more.  Oh my goodness, he may be skinny, but the boy can eat.  It is amazing.  I guess all the walking around today made him a hungry little boy.

Tomorrow we are going to Aiden's house to play for a little bit.  I hope Jacob plays nice there...so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

Auntie Vanessa & Uncle Phil's Wedding

Yesterday we were at Auntie Vanessa and Uncle Phil's wedding.  It was a really beautiful wedding and Vanessa looked GORGEOUS!!!!  Jacob looked quite handsome himself.  He was wearing black pants, a white button up shirt, a dark red vest and tie.  He was absolutely adorable (and mommy was excited about only spending $10 on the outfit).  Jacob was a good boy at the wedding too.  Whitney and Andrew played with Jacob outside of the chapel during the ceremony and good thing too.  they told us that Jacob was a major chatter box while outside.  At the reception he was attempting to walk all over the place.  When the music started he was a dancing machine.  He danced with his Auntie Vanessa and then with all of his cousins.  They were all over him.  Anissa, Taylor, Sasha and Jessica couldn't get their hands off him.  He was having lots of fun.  I know this is bad to admit, but there was one point when I had no idea where my son was.  I knew he was in good hands, at least I was hoping he was.  Everyone was handing him off to everyone else and helping him walk all over the place.  He was so tired at the end of the day.  He really only got about 45 minutes worth of naps the entire day.  So by 7:30 he was conked out.  We put him in the stroller in attempts of him sleeping in there, but the music was so loud that even outside in the hallway was too loud for him to sleep.  So we had to leave the party a little early, but that was okay.  We were pretty tired ourselves.  It was a long day for all of us.  Both Bill and I were also in the wedding so we were there early helping out the bride and groom and doing our wedding party duties.   All in all it was a great day and the happy couple looked great!

Today Jacob slept in till about 7:15!  So we had a little later start.  After his nap we quickly got ready for church, but this time it was the third service.  A much better one for Jacob.  He was in a good mood the entire time.  We decided to sit in the hallway as a family so daddy didn't have to sit in the sanctuary all by himself again.  Jacob met a friend out there and they were "talking" to eachother.  Then we went outside where he could push the stroller around and we could still hear the message.

Jacob was walking a lot more on his own today.  Just taking random steps for nothing in particular.  It is so cute to see him walking around.  He looks like a little Frankenstein.  Tomorrow we are getting together with Jacob's friends Drew and Christian so the boys can play.  They haven't all been together since the summer time in swim class.  So I am definitely looking forward to seeing the three of them together.  So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

Disneyland with the boys

Today Jacob and I went to Disneyland with his friends Luke and Christian (and their mommies of course).  We carpooled with Christian and Christina.  On the ride to Disney, the two boys were laughing so hard in the back of the car.  I don't know what they were doing to eachother, but all I heard was two little boys laughing.  It was the cutest thing ever.  I think Christian would start to talk and Jacob thought that was funny so he started to laugh, which made Christian start to laugh at Jacob laughing.  Oh my goodness, we mommies were laughing in the front.  i wish I had my video camera rolling for that one.  It was adorable.

We met up with Kim and Luke at the entrance to Disney and the three boys had a great time.  They were very excited about getting on Dumbo.  They were all standing behind the fence looking out at the ride and bouncing up and down in anticipation of getting on the ride. We were actually able to get on about 4 rides...Casey Jr., the Carousel, Dumbo, and It's a Small World.  The boys did begin to have a small melt down right after lunch.  They were all really tired, but didn't want to go to sleep.  So we mommies just layed them down and walked around. Christian was the first to fall asleep, then Jacob and finally Luke.  Luke's mommy did not think he would fall asleep.  But they were all so tired.  Jacob was the first to wake up (of course...the boys does not know how to nap).  Then Luke and Christian were woken up by the marching band going by.  The boys had fun "pushing" their strollers.  They stood behind the strollers and pushed them along. Boy was that helpful to us mommies.  :)  We got to Disneyland at about 11am and didn't leave until about 5:30!  I couldn't believe that we all made it that long. AMAZING!!!!  Once again Jacob loved Its a Small World.  His little head was moving around so much so that he could take in all that was going on.  He was pretty friendly to other people in the park.  He waved to some of them and some of them he waved to once they had already passed by him.  They got to touch the Queen of Hearts and Captain Hook came by too to say hi to the boys.  he was actually pretty nice to them!

Well, I'm am pretty pooped out now so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

Feeling much better

So Jacob has been a good boy about taking his medicine.  He actually likes it.  His little mouth opens up when he sees the dropper come near his mouth.  Last week we pretty much took it easy, stayed around the house not doing too much.  By the weekend he was feeling a lot better and his runny nose had cleared up totally by Saturday.

Friday night I went to Auntie Vanessa's Bachelorette Party.  Daddy and Jacob hung out that night.  I think daddy was pretty worn out by the end of the night because when I got home, he didn't even move when I got into bed.  He was pooped!  Jacob spent the whole day on Saturday with Nani.  We went to a UCLA football game and were gone the whole day.  the traffic was terribe coming home.  It took us 2 hours from the time we left the stadium to the time we walked into the door.  I was so happy to see my baby.  I missed him so much.

Sunday morning daddy woke up with Jacob at his lovely 6am wake up time and I actually slept in until almost 8!  When I went downstairs daddy was giving Jacob his breakfast already...what a great daddy!  Later that morning we met the Kollen's at Irvine Spectrum for breakfast.  We had a great time.  Of course as soon as our food arrived, Jacob decided to throw a fit, so we had to eat in shifts.  After breakfast we walked around a little bit and got Jacob some new shoes (again).  The ones he had he could  NOT walk in at all.  they made him very clumsy.  So we got some that are easy to get on and off and that he could walk in more easily.  This child is spoiled.  But daddy is lucky he is not a girl, becasue boy oh boy did they have some cute shoes for little girls.  I think I would have bought about 10 pair instead of the one.  Really, there is so much variety of girl clothes and accessories out there.   I realize it's for girls and girls are "cuter" but seriously, they could have a little more variety for boys...anyway...  Afterward we went to the Kollen's new house which is absolutely beautiful!  The boys spent some time playing there and then we went to the park near their house.  Jacob had a ball playing in the dirt (mulch) there.  Unfortunately we had to leave just as they were really starting to have some fun because we were meeting Grandma and Grandpa for dinner.  So off we went.  We met up with Grandma and Grandpa at an Italian restaurant.  They wanted to see Jacob take a few steps, but of couse he didn't, there was an audience and he did't feel like showing off.

This morning when we woke up I realized that I left Jacob's medicine out all night (it's supposed to be refrigerated!).  So off we went to the pharmacy when they opened so that I could get some more med.  The pharmasist said that it was okay since it's cool at night anyway.  Gosh I hope it's okay.  I was hesitant about letting him take it but she kept assuring me that it was fine, there was no need for new medicaton.  I think she could see the doubt in my eyes, so she said several times, it's fine for him to take, just make sure from now on that you put it in the fridge!  Well no duh, I've already learned my lesson.  I was obviously tired last night and got distracted after giving him his medicine.  I will now triple check to make sure that it's in the fridge after I give it to him.  Bad mommy!

So now Jacob is taking a nap and I'm on the computer instead of cleaning something around the house...hey it's Veteran's Day...it's a holiday.  Okay, until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

Sinus Infection :(

When Jacob woke up this morning he looked like he had been in a fight.  His right eye was closed shut with a lot of "gunk" and it was red and swollen.  Poor baby. I put a warm wash cloth on his eye to get rid of all the gunk in his eye.  He did not like me doing that though.  He was in great spirits though.  After his morning bottle we were playing in the living room and all of a sudden he let go of the ottoman and took 10 steps toward on of his toys!  OH my goodness, I couldn't believe it.  Up until then, the most I'd seen him take was 4 steps.  This time he took 5 steps paused quickly to regain his balance and then took 5 more.  He was taking a lot more steps throughout the day.  He is getting braver with his steps.  This evening daddy, Jacob and I were all playing and he was walking back and forth from mommy to daddy.  So cute.

Well anyway, back to his infection.  When the doctor's office opened I called to schedule him an appointment.  Fortunately we were able to get an appointment this morning.  We saw Dr. Koutoures.  He said Jacob has a sinus infection and perscribed some antibiotics.  Jacob took his first dose this evening after his bottle.  It's smelled okay, strawberries and cream and most of it got in his mouth.  So hopefully it will start to work soon.  His poor little nose is really runny in the morning and in the evening.  He gets a break in the late afternoon from all the stuff running out of his mouth.  Other than him having a runny nose, you wouldn't be able to tell that he has an infection.  He is still very active during the day and at night too.  He is still a happy baby and is eating well.  Except for tonight, he didn't like the pasta I made so we had to pull out the leftover chicken from last night for him.  The little bugger, He normally likes pasta, but not tonight...oh well.

I forgot to write about this in earlier posts, but the other night he woke up in the middle of the night looking for his pacifier.  Normally when this happens I go into his room and the first thing I do is look for the paci on the floor and then if it's not there I look on his mattress.  So this night I walked in his room and looked on the floor, nope, not there, so then I start to look in his crib and it wasn't there.  I hadn't really looked at him at this point and started to feel around the crib for it, but there was nothing.  It was then that I got a good look at him.  The pacifier was stuck to his hair.  Oh my goodness...it was the funniest thing.  Had it not been the middle of the night I would have left it there and taken a picture.  But I wanted him to go right back to sleep so no picture (except for in my mind).

Alright, well I hope he has a restful night.  He is asleep right now and as I've been typing this he has been coughing a lot.  I hope he is able to sleep tonight.  so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

Another Birthday Party

These past few days Jacob has been trying to fight off his runny nose.  We thought it was gone, but it returned Thursday morning...maybe he was out too late Halloween night...oops.  Lately he seems to be very active in the late afternoon.  That is when he is most "talkative" and when he attempts to take his steps.  Each day since his "firsts" he has taken at least a couple of steps.  Tonight while playing he actually took some steps toward something other than his daddy or me.  He is getting really good at keeping his balance too.

So today was the change in time.  I usually LOVE this one because we get to sleep an extra hour...well that's all in the past now.  Jacob doesn't know about daylight saving time, so instead of waking up at his normal 7am..he woke up at 6, which I expected.  He had a busy day today.  After church, which he almost lasted through today, he threw a fit but waited until the last couple of minutes, we came home and he took a nap in preparation for the birthday party he was going to later in the afternoon.  Jacob and I went to Garrett's birthday party at a kid's gym place.  Jacob had a great time.  He was playing with a ball, some hula hoops and all the mats.  Then they made some a lot of bubbles.  I think that was his favorite part.  He was trying to catch all the bubbles as the older kids were running all around him.  His friend Cooper was there too.  He was also having a great time.  We actually got the two boys to sit down and take a picture together...AMAZING!!!  Of course Jacob was so tired that he slept all the way home...YES!

I thought for sure he would go to sleep early tonight since the change in time, but I think his schedule is all thrown off now.  He was playing and talking all the way until almost 8pm...which is really 9pm in his time.  I couldn't believe it.  At 7pm he was crawling all over the place playing with all his toys.  He was making his daddy and me laugh.  We were trying to play ball with him, trying to get him to roll the ball to us, but it didn't happen...yet.  He did take a few steps in attempt of getting his Mickey ball, one of the steps was even backwards, in attempt of keeping his balance.

He has had sort of like a rash on both of his calves for the past week or so.  I think I might call the doctor tomorrow to ask him to take a look at it.  At first I thought it was just dry skin, but I've been putting lotion on him and nothing has happened.   So we'll call the doctor and see what he says.  I also want to ask him about his what I hope is not an allergy to dairy.  Every time I've tried giving him dairy products (cheese and yogurt, so far) he breaks out in red spots all around his mouth.  I really hope he's not allergic to that stuff...that means no ice cream?!?!?  THere is no way my child is going to be allergic to ice cream!  We'll just have to see what happens.  So until next time...mommy and daddy love yoU!
