2 month check up

Jacob was two months old on Sunday.  Today he had his two month check up.  He weighed in at 11 lbs 6 oz. and was 23 inches long.  He had to get his immunization shots too.  5 shots and one immunization he had to swallow.  The nurse was very good.  She started with the oral immunization.  Jacob did not like the taste of it, but he ate the whole thing!  He was a good boy...he only pouted after tasting it...fortunately he didn't spit it out like the some other babies, according to the nurse.  Then mommy and daddy talked to Jacob as the nurse poked him twice in the left leg and three times in the right leg.  When he felt the first prick he had a delayed reaction and let out a big cry, then as the other shots went in he scrunched up his face and didn't breathe for about 5 seconds, when it was all over he let out one big cry.  Then mommy picked him up and he was perfectly fine.  He did a good job with those shots...mommy and daddy were expecting something worse.

Doctor Gladstein said he is doing well and is in the 50th percentile for his height and weight.  I guess that's just where he should be!

Yesterday was Nani's actual birthday so Jacob and mommy took Nani flowers and a balloon to her work and then went to lunch with her.  Nani was so surprised to see us and she was very happy.  She had a great Birthday with Jacob!

so until next time...Mommy and Daddy love you!

Nani's Birthday Celebration

Hi....This is daddy here posting today's events.

Today we had a great day sleeping in and getting ready for Nani's Birthday.  Mommy and I took you to Marie Callendar's to go and get a pie for Nani in the morning but they (to our amazement) were closed in the morning.  So we ended up going back home and tried going back later.  We eventually went back and they were obviously open by then.  So we got Nani a Boysenberry pie...yum yum yum...!

So we brought the pie over to Nani's house and waited until we were all ready to go to Romano's Macaroni Grill.  Your Uncle RJ, Auntie Sonnia, Papa, Nani, Mommy and Daddy all went to go celebrate her birthday there!  When we got there, we all ordered and couldn't wait to eat our delicious dinner together.  You were sleeping the entire time there until a lady working there came over to sing Happy Birthday in Italiano to Nani.  She was so loud and it sounded so beautiful!   You loved it so much that you woke up for it and Nani was able to see your beautiful eyes.

After we left Romano's Macaroni Grill, we went back to Nani's house and had dessert.  Nani opened our gift we got her and she loved it!  We also had the warm boysenberry pie (that we bought earlier) and Vanilla Ice Cream.  Yummy for my tummy!!!  Your mommy liked it too!

So that's really about it right now.  Mommy and Daddy love you soooo much and can't wait to take you to church again tomorrow.  We love you son!

Meeting new friends

Jacob was able to meet more friends this week.  Mommy's work had this week off so some of her friends from work came to visit Jacob.  On Tuesday, Adrianna and Courtney came to meet Jacob for the first time.  They brought some flowers for Jacob (and mommy).  Of course he was asleep when they got here.  Jacob and the three girls went to lunch and Jacob was a good boy.  Mommy had a good time talking to her friends from work.  She hadn't seen them since her last day at work (over 2 months!).

Then on Thursday Jacob met his first girlfriend, Alyssa who is 2 1/2 (he likes older women) and her mommy Auntie Melinda.  Jacob had fun playing with Alyssa in his gym.  She and Jacob played with the elephant, monkey and giraffe.  They were so cute together.

Jacob is a lot more attentive lately, smiling in response to things a lot more.  He likes the monkey and elephant from his gym.  He likes getting kisses from them.  He also smiles when daddy and mommy kiss him on the nose.  On Thursday when daddy was getting ready for work he picked up Jacob and was talking to him for a bit.  It brought a huge smile to mommy's face when she saw Jacob with a huge smile on his face just looking at his daddy.  It was the cutest thing I've ever seen.  I wish I had a camera right then, it was definitely a Kodac moment, but that picture will last in my memory forever.

Mommy and Daddy love you!

Church and the Party Animal

This weekend Jacob had 2 birthday parties to attend.  On Saturday he went to his very first birthday party for his cousin Dylan who turned 4 years old.  It was a Power Ranger party complete with a Power Ranger pinata.  Unfortunately Jacob was asleep when it came time to hit the pinata, but he'll be ready next time.  We all had a great time at the birthday party.  Jacob got to meet his other little cousins, John Paul, Annika and Maleah (and their mommies and daddies).  All the little cousins took a very cute picture together and the girls made sure to hold Jacob just right so that he was upright for the picture:)

Saturday night Jacob slept the longest he's ever slept and went the longest between feedings...a whole 71/2 hours.  Mommy and daddy were so surprised.  When he finally woke up and mommy looked at the clock she could not believe the time and that Jacob had slept that long.  I guess partying wore him out and he knew he needed his rest for the birthday party on Sunday.

Sunday was another big day for Jacob.  He went to church for the first time.  When we got to church we ran into Rob and Terry DePartee (our pre-marital mentor couple).  They were able to meet Jacob for the first time.  We met Chris and Leann at church.  Jacob got hungry just as church was about to start so mommy found the nursing room and was in there for most of the service (Jake was extra hungry that morning) so poor daddy, Chris and Leann, they had to sit in the back for nothing:(  In the nursing room Jacob met a baby girl, Brooke, who is one week older than Jacob so she became his girlfriend, since he know no other little girls close to his age.  Then we went to get a quick bit to eat with Chris and Leann and then we were off to our second party of the weekend.

We headed over to cousing Aiden's 3rd birthday party.  He had a cool Cars theme and there were cars all over the place.  Aiden had a cool house with lots of toys to play with because there are two cool boys to play with there.  While at the party Jacob got to meet more of his cousins.  He met Meghan, Nathan, Aiden, Bryce and Lucas (and all their mommies and daddies) and Auntie Babe.  We had a good time with all the kids that were at the party. Jacob even got a cool party favor (Thanks Aiden!).  Jacob was so tired when he got home that he ate and went right to sleep at 7pm (which is early for him).  He even skipped his bath because he didn't give his mommy and daddy enough time to give him a bath(he's already becoming a little boy trying to skip out on baths)...oh well there's always tomorrow and mommy will make sure he gets cleaned.

Some milestones since our last update.  This weekend Jacob went into size one diapers:(  He is no longer in his newborn diapers.  Mommy was a little sad, but also happy that her little baby is getting bigger.  Jacob is also holding his head up a lot longer.  He's smiling a lot more and in response to mommy and daddy talking to him and smiling at him. He has become more and more interested in his hands and loves to stare at them, especially when we are driving in the car.

In the last couple of days mommy thinks Jacob is looking like his Uncle RJ when he was a baby.  Sunday at the party daddy was holding Jacob and when mommy looked over at them she thought she was looking at her younger brother when he was a baby!  It's amazing how much he can change from day to day.

Happy Valentine's Day

It's been a couple of days since we've posted so we'll have to catch up.  Sunday night Jacob decided not to sleep so he had mommy up SEVERAL times that night.  Monday mommy had a doctor's appointment so daddy and Jacob joined her.  After her appointment we went to visit the Gunnins.  Jacob had not seen them since the day after he was born and he wanted to visit his Aunt, Uncle and cousins!  We had a good time visiting except we couldn't really visit with Andrew because he wasn't feeling 100% and he was playing with his friend Brayden.  That's okay because we'll make sure we'll visit him soon!

Tuesday mommy and Jacob spent most of the day shopping.  We had to find daddy's valentine's gift and a birthday present for Cousin Dylan (he'll be 4 on Feb. 15th and we are going to his birthday party on Saturday!...that will be Jacob's first birthday party!).  We had a good time shopping and Jacob was a good boy.  When we left our last store it started raining, so mommy ran Jacob to the car and he didn't get one drop on him!  When we got home daddy was outside taking pictures of the sky because there was a beautiful rainbow in our backyard!  Just two days earlier mommy was reading to Jacob the story of Noah and the ark so Jacob got to see in person what the rainbow that God sent looked like.  Later that night Nani and Papa came over to babysit Jacob because Daddy was taking mommy out for Valentine's dinner (1 day early).  Nani and Papa brought Jacob a Valentine's, it was a book with Elmo and a baby mozart CD.  Mommy played it in the car for me on Wednesday.

Today is Valentine's Day.  Mommy and Jacob went out to get daddy a Ice Blended from the Coffee Bean (he loves those) and that was mommy's gift to daddy (what a cheap skate!).  Jacob got daddy two books about daddy's and their kids so daddy can read them to Jacob.  It was such a beautiful day so mommy and daddy took Jacob for a walk around the neighborhood.  Tonight mommy is going to make daddy dinner and Jacob is going to help (by sleeping while she's making dinner!).   We'll check in tomorrow to see how dinner went!

Mommy and daddy love you!

Rainy Day

It's raining today!  Finally we got some rain.  We are staying home today.  Mommy actually got a little bit of cleaning done today.  She also washed all your bigger clothes.  It's time to move into the next size.  You are getting so big now.  Last night after your bath, mommy fed you and then rocked you to sleep at about 9pm.  You slept all the way until 3am!!!! That is the longest you've ever slept.  Mommy and daddy couldn't believe how much sleep they got at one time.   You are such a good little sleeper now!

Yesterday, Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa played in a poker tournament at the Pechanga.  None of them won, but they had a good time.  Then Grandma and Grandpa came to our house to watch a movie.  Grandma held you two times yesterday and you didn't cry either time.  All of us were really excited about that.  They were threatening to steal you away from us and take you home with them.  But don't worry, we didn't let them do that!

Mommy went to Auntie Jen M's bridal shower.  It was really nice.  Everyone wanted to see a picture of you amd they all said you were BEAUTIFUL!  Nani babysat you while mommy was gone.  Then we went shopping to find some frames to put your beautiful pictures in.  Well, we didn't find any frames, but we did find some clothes for you.  Since you are growing out of your newborn clothes, Nani bought you some cute outfits.  You picked out some books for you to give to daddy on Valentines day.  They are books for daddy to read to you (they are about daddy's and their babies).

right now daddy is trying to weigh you...he is so funny.  You are crying right now because I'm sure he has you laying down on the bed by yourself so he can go back and weigh himself.  He is weighing you about every other day.  He is so cute.  Now I hear him talking to you.  He must be back.   He's telling you that you are a strong boy.  It is so adorable to see the two of you together, especially when you've fallen asleep in his arms.  He loves rocking you to sleep, but he also likes when you two watch TV together.  I have no idea what you two watch, but I'm sure when you get older I will no longer have any contol of the TV (not that I have any now!).  I'm am out numbered and am going to have to like watching sports and other "guy" stuff.  That's okay, when you guys are watching "guy TV" I'll just go shopping.  I'm sure daddy will love that!

Okay, you are crying a little more now...I think it's time for you to eat.  Remember, mommy and daddy love you!

New Friends

Yesterday we got ready in the morning and took mommy's car in for service.  While the car was being serviced we went to Papa's work to take him to lunch and meet everyone that he works with.  We especially wanted to meet Toni and Pat, two ladies that work with Papa who have your picture posted everywhere.  You were wide awake when we got to Papa's work and he took you right away.  He was such a proud grandpa showing you off to everyone that walked by.  Everyone that Papa works with is very nice.  We are glad that he works with such great people.  Then mommy, daddy, Jacob and Papa went to lunch.  We had a great few hours with Papa. When we went to pick up mommy's car, daddy went to look at the new cars at the dealership.  Mommy and Jacob knew they were in trouble.  While Jacob was eating his mid afternoon snack, daddy was trying to negotiate a deal with the salesperson.  Luckily mommy's car was done before daddy had enough time to talk the salesperson down to the price daddy wanted to pay.  Mommy was a little worried that daddy would be driving home in a new car.  The car was very nice and daddy does deserve it, but he was not going to budge on his price.  Oh well, no new car for daddy (yet!).

Today Jacob finally got to meet his friend Aiden (and Auntie Erin and Auntie Linnea).  Aiden is Auntie Erin's little baby that was born 6 days before Jacob.  Auntie Erin and mommy have been friends since the 5th grade (that's a long time, but we won't say exactly how many years!).  Aiden and Jacob were good friends from the start.  They took lots of pictures together and were good boys through the photosession.  Mommy and Auntie Erin can hardly wait until Jacob and Aiden can play together.  It's wierd for them to think that thier sons were born so close together and will be such great friends!

After our visit with Aiden, mommy, Nani and Jacob went to the mall to pick up Jacob's 1st month pictures.  Jacob looked so handsome in his pictures and mommy can hardly wait to frame the pictures and put them on display in the house.  Of course mommy and daddy bought way to many pictures (especially since Jacob is only 1 month old and they plan on taking pictures every month until he's one so they are going to need to SLOW DOWN on the picture buying!).

Last night Jacob went to sleep at about 8:30 and didn't wake up until 1am!  That was the longest he's gone at night.  Mommy was definitely excited about that...she got to sleep for more than 3 hours at a time!  Unfortunately, after waking up at 1am, Jacob also woke up at 3, then at 4 and then went into the office with daddy at 6am to help him work until mommy woke up:)  We all hope Jacob continues to be a good boy at night.  It makes everyone happy:)

Tomorrow mommy is going to Auntie Jen M's bridal shower and daddy is taking his mommy and daddy to Pechanga to play in a tournament so Jacob will be with Nani for a couple of hours.  I wonder if he will ever make it out of her arms while she's babysitting????

We'll update tomorrow and see if Nani held him the entire time.

Mommy and daddy love you!

A better day

Jacob slept last night, thank goodness!  He's awake a lot during the day now.  Lately he's been taking little cat naps here and there (just like his daddy!).  He'll eat, be awake for a couple of hours, fall asleep for 20 - 30 minutes and then wake up and want to eat again, then the cycle starts again.  Sometimes he is so tired but fights going to sleep.  His eyes get puffy and red and he closes them for a few seconds but then opens them up to see if he's missing out on anything. It's great when he's awake because mommy and daddy can play with and talk to him.  He is so beautiful with his eyes wide open.  All you see is his beautiful eyes when he's awake. Right now his eyes are on the green side, there are days when they are on the gray side and sometimes they are hazel.  It will be interesting to see what color eyes he ends up with.  Mommy thinks they will be a lighter brown color.

This morning Jacob and mommy spent most of the morning talking to each other.  Well mommy spent most of the time talking and Jacob spent most of the time cooing.  Daddy was working from home today and whenever he had a break he came to talk to his little boy.

Our field trip today was to the store to get more diapers for Jacob and other household necessities.  Then while daddy was in class, mommy and Jacob went to visit Nani and Papa because she was bored at home. When we got home, daddy grabbed Jacob right away because he missed him so much, even though we were only gone for about 1 1/2 hours.  So the rest of the night daddy held Jacob until he fell asleep.

Tomorrow we are going to visit Papa at his work so the ladies that he works with can meet Jacob.  They are excited about meeting Jacob since Papa talks about him all the time.

So until tomorrow, mommy and daddy love you.

An all nighter February 6, 2007

Yesterday was daddy's first day back at work officially.  He was so sad to leave his baby in the morning.  Mommy was sad too because she was going to be on her own for the first time.  So to pass the time Jacob and mommy went to Victoria Gardens so mommy could go to Crate and Barrel to buy a gift for Auntie Jen McNatt for her bridal shower this weekend.  Jacob did a good job at the store.  Toward the end of our visit he got hungry, so we found a seat in the shade near the water fountain and Jacob had his lunch.

Later that night Jacob decided he was going to pull an all nighter.  He got VERY LITTLE SLEEP and mommy got even less.  Daddy had to get up early to go to work, so mommy and Jacob had to go to the other bedroom to attempt to sleep (but mainly to cry) so we wouldn't distrub daddy.  All day Tuesday was the same thing.  Jacob would eat be up for a couple of hours and then fall asleep for 30 minutes and then wake up again because he was hungry.  We even had to say no to a visitor this afternoon because mommy was hoping that you would be sleeping, little did she know that Auntie Erin and Aiden could have come over because you were wide awake the whole afternoon.  Needless to say, mommy is very very tired today.  Tonight is bath night, so hopefully you sleep tonight (since you really haven't slept since yesterday!!!!).

Despite keeping us up all night, mommy and daddy still love you!

Over the weekend

Jacob had a fun weekend.  On Saturday, mommy and daddy went to the UCLA basketball game so Nani got to babysit Jacob the whole day.  You and nani had a good time together.  You went for a walk around the neighborhood because it was such a beautiful day.  Boy, was she excited about that, but mommy and daddy were a sad to leave their baby for the first time.  All they could think about while at the game was Jacob.  They kept looking at the pictures of Jacob on their phones.  After fighting almost 2 hours of traffic on the way home, they were finally able to see their baby boy.  They brought you a UCLA football jersey for you to wear next football season.  You are going to look so cute!

Then cousins Conrad, Gina and Aly stopped by to say hi to Jacob.  You cousin Aly was so cute and she held you for a long time.  She didn't want to put you down.  It was fun to meet your cousins for the first time!

Sunday was Superbowl Sunday.  Nani and Papa had a party at their house.  You were all dressed in your football allstar outfit and held your football while watching the game with your daddy.  Auntie Geri and Uncle Martin were there and played with you.  You went for a walk with mommy and daddy and your "uncle" Harley and "cousin" Capone (nani's dog and your Uncle RJ's bulldog).  You were asleep the whole time, but the doggies had a good time playing at the park.

Mommy and Daddy love you!

We did a bunch of stuff today!

Hey this is daddy again...  Today was a very busy day for our family.

Daddy had to work today and mommy took you to her dentist appt in the morning. While she was there, the staff at the office was very surprised to see you.  Last time they talked to mommy, all they asked for was to have her bring a picture of you in...but instead, mommy brought the real thing in!

Afterwards, we met our neighbor, pastor Frank Garcia.  He's a very nice man and so full of the Lord. He is the pastor of Calvary Chapel Abba's House in Chino Hills.  Daddy just finished building their website for them and he loved it! He also thought you looked so handsome and couldn't wait for his wife (Mary) to meet you.

We then headed out to Romano's Macaroni Grill to meet grandma and grandpa Roberts.  They just couldn't wait to see you again.  So we met halfway between our homes and enjoyed a nice dinner together.  We all then headed on over to go shopping at a store nearby for a little bit.  So since we were in the area, we decided to swing by auntie Di's house to meet your uncle Jeff (for the first time).  He thought you were sooo cool! After hanging out there for a while with the Parson's family, we headed on back home.

The BEST part of today is that you finally started to show major improvements with your poo poo's :)  Whatever your doctor did yesterday really worked for us!

That's about it for today!  We love you Jake!

A day at the doctor's

So this is daddy here.  Today we visited your doctor!   Your mommy and I called your doctor this morning and asked why you weren't going poo poo.  After they called back and told us they could squeeze you in today for a check-up, we headed into check you out!  So there we were, just hanging out in the doctors office just hanging out with you.  One of the first things they had us do while we were there was to weigh you on the scale.  So we did and, AMAZINGLY, you weighed in at 10 Lbs 1 Oz!  That means you gained 2 pounds in 3 and half weeks!  That's our boy!!!  We're so proud of you!!!  Anyway, the doctor checked you out and said that you looked good and that you should be just fine by tomorrow.  So we'll see!

Afterwards, we took you out to lunch with us and then headed on home.  Not much interesting after that... just kicking back right now with you watching "Grey's Anatomy" (mommy's favorite show) with a log on the fire.

Mommy and Daddy love you Jake!

Oops, we missed yesterday so we'll catch you up.

You are smiling more and more each morning when mommy and daddy talk to you.  You are so adorable.  Your beautiful eyes brighten up even more when you have a smile on your face.

You are having some trouble going poo poo so daddy called the doctor and they told us not to worry about anything.  Are we being paranoid parents?  No, we just want to make sure you are healthy and happy:)  Tuesday night you got a bath.  In the middle of the bath you started to pee.  Now, this is not an abnormal activity for you, in fact one time you even pooped while being given a bath.  But this time your pee pee took form of a perfect arch and landed right in your left eye.  Of course mommy freaked out a little bit and quickly put her had over your "little guy" to stop the pee from getting in your eye anymore.  You didn't cry until we started to put water on your eye to flush out the pee.  When it was all over with mommy and daddy started laughing so hard.  I can still picture the scene and I don't think either one of us will ever forget it.

Later that night you must have been one hungry baby because you were eating every 2 hours (like you were a few days old again).  That made mommy have VERY LITTLE SLEEP and she was a bit grumpy in the morning from the lack of sleep, so daddy took over in the morning and once mommy got over her grumpiness we were all okay.

We have noticed that when you cry (which is getting more often these days) your eyes are filling with tears.  You haven't quite shed a tear yet, but after crying your beautiful eyelashes are all wet and there is a drop of tear on the corner of your eyes.   Nani and Papa came over to see you tonight.  They make mommy and daddy laugh because they almost fight over who gets to hold you.  Of course Nani gets you first and then Papa looks at the clock and after a while he tells her it's his turn to hold you.  They are so funny, but it just shows us how much they love you.

Well, hopefully we have a more restful night tonight!  Mommy and daddy love you!
