Jacob's Dedication

Today was a very special day for Jacob.  This morning at 2nd service Jacob was dedicated by Pastor Jack Hibbs.  All of our family was there to pray over Jacob with Pastor Jack.  Jacob was a good boy during the prayer.

This morning he woke up early and was in a good mood.  So we knew he was going to be a good boy up on stage. Mommy put him in a white polo shirt and a pair of jeans (and daddy wore the same thing).  They looked so cute together! We were so blessed to have all of our family at the church with us.  Before we went up on stage we were sitting in the front row right by the drum set.  Jacob seemed to be mesmerized by them.  He was staring at them during the entire worship.  When we handed him over to Pastor Jack he was so mellow.  After Pastor Jack prayed we took a picture and then we were off to the back of the church to take our seats.  Of course, he got hungry so mommy took him to the mother's room to feed him.  After he ate, he was all smiles and giggles in the room.  He was flirting with all the mommies and little girls in there.  Seriously, he is going to be a little charmer.  The moms only had to look at him and he was all smiles.  He has this one smile where he smiles in a shy way...soooo adorable.  It just makes you melt.  this boy is going to be a heartbreaker.  Pastor Jack had a great message too!  What a blessing (as he always is).   After service our family came to our house for lunch.  We definitely had a full house, but it was a blessing!  Unfortunately Uncle Ralph and Auntie Yolie got in an accident in the parking lot at the church!  Can you believe that.  Fortunately they were not too badly hurt although Aunties neck was bothering her the rest of the afternoon, but their car was pretty bad.  The entire passenger's side door was bent in.  That lady must have been driving pretty fast in the parking lot.  Mommy and Daddy ordered El Pollo Loco because there was no way they were going to be able to get food prepared for the entire family (over 30 people!).  It was yummy yummy yummy.  Most of the day mommy and daddy didn't know where Jacob was because he was being passed around from one family member to another.  He was such a good boy about it too!  He is so loved by his entire family.  Fortunately for mommy, she is the only one that can feed him right now, so she was able to spend a little time with him during the day, but as soon as he was done eating, someone else grabbed him.   Everyone had a good time this afternoon.  Cousin Taylor brought the new member to their family, Dainty, a maltepoo (I don't know how to spell that).  so the kids were outside playing with her most of the time.  Someone was learning how to take a golf swing, others were playing ping pong in the garage, of course the women were talking, and someone (I'm not mentioning any names but he is the daddy to the baby who was dedicated today) started wheelchair races in the garage with Grandma Gloria's wheelchair.  I don't think she knew that was happening and hopefully she doesn't find out!  All in all it was a wonderful day.  Jacob received some very beautiful gifts including great books, beautiful frames and other great stuff!

Jacob has been such a blessing in our lives for the past 5 months, actually for the past year and a few weeks, since we found out we were pregnant with him On May 4, 2006.  He has brought nothing but joy to our lives.  Everyday there is something new for him whether he reaches a milestone by rolling over or just discovers that he has feet.  He is so precious.  We enjoy listening to him talk and laugh.  We love to watch him play with his toys.  We love staring at him and him staring back at us with that beautiful gummy smile.  I don't know what we did without him in our lives.  I can't think of what our lives were like before now that he is here.  He has definitely changed our lives.  All I think about is my little baby and what I can do to make him happy, healthy and safe!  We love being Jacob's parents and pray that God gives us the wisdom to raise him to love the Lord and to grow to be a strong man; we want him to be strong in his faith and strong to stand up for what he believes.  We pray that we raise him to be an honest man, a loving man, a kind man, and a respectful man.  We pray that he is successful, whatever he defines successful to mean for him.  And we pray that he will one day have a family and be a wonderful daddy, just like his daddy.  But most of all we pray that Jacob always knows that he is loved by his mommy and daddy and by his Father in Heaven!

Mommy and Daddy love you Jacob!

Cereal Yum Yum!

This morning Jacob had his first taste of rice cereal and he sat in his high chair for the first time...okay the second, we put him in it after putting it together...but he only sat in it for a couple of seconds so it doesn't really count.  Anyway, we sat him in the high chair, which he seemed to like and with daddy video taping, mommy gave Jacob his first tast of "solid" foods.  We made it quite watery so that it was easier for him to get to the back of his mouth and swallow.  He did fairly well.  A lot of it did land up on his face and bib, but he didn't reject it.  About halfway through the feeding he got really excited and was talking up a storm.  I can't believe my baby is getting so big!  It was fun feeding him, but a little sad too...this just means he's getting bigger and will soon no longer be a baby...but he will ALWAYS be my baby.

The rest of the day he spent between mommy and daddy while they were getting the house ready for family tomorrow.  Daddy worked on the outside while mommy worked (somewhat) on the inside.  Nani came over to drop off something and ended up watching Jacob for a while so mommy and daddy could get some stuff done.  That was a big help.  Jacob was a good boy today.

Tomorrow he is being dedicated.  I just pray that he's a good boy up there with Pastor Jack:)  He's always a good boy, but you never know.  I'm just nervous about his feeding time.  He usually eats while we are at church so I'm hoping that his dedication falls at just the right time either right before he eats or right after.  We'll see what happens...so until then...Mommy and Daddy love you Jacob:)

5 months old!

Jacob is 5 months old today.  Gosh, I can't believe he's already 5 months...it's gone by so fast!  Wednesday he had a weight check up with the doctor.  He weighed in at 13 lbs. 14 ounces.  The doctor said he's fine...he's just growing weight wise on the 25th percentile...which I guess is fine as long as he stays on that track and doesn't drop again.  After the doctor's appointment we went to Babies R Us to buy Jacob a new toy.  we put him in all the different "excersaucers" and he definitely prefered one over all of them...of course it had to be one of the pricier ones...but that's okay, anything for our little boy!  When we got home, I spent about an hour trying to put the whole thing together...but I was proud of myself putting it all together myself...Bill did help with one small part.

when Jacob sat in it for the first time, the moment was priceless...he was a little overwhelmed at first with so many things to see and touch.  Soon he was grabbing at everything.  At first he was obsessed with the mirror, then his attention turned to the phone.  He then turned to this spinny thing and once he figured out how to make it spin, he went crazy...he was jumping up and down in excitement over his new found toy.  Of course daddy caught it all on video and we enjoyed watching him on video later that night.  It was amazing to see him learn how to make things happen on this thing.  He was really examining the different toys and figuring out what they did. so precious!

On Thursday, Jacob and I went to the botanical gardens in Claremont.  we went to meet up with other babies and mommies.  Unfortunately only one other mommy and son showed up, but we had a good time meeting them and walking around the gardens...my allergies were not happy with me later that day though...oh well!

Friday, Jacob and daddy spent some quality time together while I went to get my hair cut.  It was nice to get away for a couple of hours and I'm sure the boys had a good time at home.  I'm not too sure what exactly went on, but everyone was fine when I got home, so I'm sure it was harmless whatever they did together.  I fear that may not be the case in upcoming years though:)

This Sunday Jacob is being dedicated.  The family will be there to pray with us and then they will come over to our house for some lunch.  So tomorrow will be a busy day for us getting the house picked up and putting all of Jacob's stuff away!  For being so little he sure does have a lot of stuff that goes along with him:0  So until next time...mommy and daddy love you our 5 month old Jacob:)

Rollin over like crazy

This is daddy posting.  Today was another milestone in your life!  It may not mean much to most but it's a BIG deal for mommy and daddy.  In the recent past few weeks, you have been rolling to your tummy and *sometimes* rolling back.  But today....!  You have nailed it down.  You are rolling over like crazy from back to belly and back!  It was so cool to see and daddy video taped it so you can see when you grow up.

You have also been talking a lot...saying what, we'll never know.  But you are so talkative and really vocal these days.  Along with that, you have also been sitting up more often and it looks like you're getting ready to sit on your own pretty soon!

Over the weekend, daddy and papa were watching the Chino Hills Air Show right from our backyard.  Man!!!!! It was so cool!!!!  Mommy and Daddy (really daddy) can't wait to take you to the show so you can watch all the P38's , P51's, F-15's and F-18's.  You're gonna love it!  We'll have times together when we make model airplanes together and play dogfight with our planes.  We'll be each others Wingmen.

Well, that's about it for now.  Mommy and Daddy love you!

20 weeks old!

Jacob had a good week.  He turned 20 weeks old last Monday.  It seems like he's been in this world so much longer.  He's begun pulling his pacifier out of his mouth and playing with it...it's his new toy.  At times he attempts to put it back in his mouth, but has only been successful a couple of times.  Most of the time, he get it in sideways or tries to put the plastic part in his mouth...but he's trying.  At night he has begun rolling over when he sleeps.  I get really nervous when he does this because he is up against his crib and the bumper, so I bring him into bed with me.  Iknows that's really a no-no too, but I feel way more comfortable doing this.  We have to go to the doctor's this week for a weight check.  I really don't think he's gained much weight, but he sure is getting longer and longer.  He took the bottle with formula well the first few times we gave it to him, but ever since he had the really bad spit up, he won't take the formula anymore.  I had a really bad week trying to give him formula.  Friends suggested giving him a different kind, so I tried that and it didn't work.  Then I thought maybe he is rejecting the bottle all together.  I managed to pump 1 oz. of milk (that is another story in itself...I'm having a difficult time getting anything when I pump) and Bill tried giving it to him in a bottle and he rejected it too.  So now I'm thinking he doesn't want the bottle anymore.  I am going to try some different nipples and see if that works.  I would really love it if he would take a bottle this way his daddy can help with some of the feedings.  Eventually, I won't be exclusively breastfeeding anymore and he's going to have to learn to take a bottle.

Okay enough about that.  Next Sunday Jacob will be dedicated at church.  Bill and I are really excited about that.  We've invited our families to be there to pray for Jacob.  This weekend Jacob, my mom and I went out to buy him an outfit to wear.  I didn't want anything too formal because that's just not the way our church is nor are we.  So he's going to wear a cute white polo shirt and some jeans and lucky daddy gets to wear the same thing...I think they are going to look adorable, I'm not too sure how daddy feels about that...but it will be cute:)  Anyway, we all had a great time shopping on Saturday.  Jacob slept most of the time, which was nice.  Today he took a record 3 hour long nap...I was shocked!  Of course he woke up very hungry.  Tomorrow we are going to go sign Jacob up for a music class offered by our city this summer.  I'm excited to see what it's all about and hope Jake enjoys it.  So until next time...Mommy and Daddy love you!

Mom's First Mother's Day

Today was my first Mother's Day and God blessed us with a beautiful day.  Jacob woke up at about 6:30 this morning after a fairly good night.  He woke up twice to eat (that hungry little boy).  We were up for about a half an hour and then daddy woke up.  We all played for a little while in our bed and then Jacob presented me with his Mother's Day gift.  Really he is all I will ever need for Mother's Day, but I guess tradition calls for a gift of some sort.  So first I opened up his card, it was a Mickey Mouse card, very cute, when I opened it up, Mickey said something to me:)  Jacob gave me two books for me to read to him.  One of the books makes me cry everytime I read it.  The title of the book fails me now, but I now I will enjoy reading that book to him forever!  I also got a beautiful frame that says "The best Mom EVER!" with a beautiful picture of my baby and me.  He has the most adorable smile in the picture.  Jacob also gave me a beautiful white gold and diamond bracelet.  I told him that I will always wear this bracelet for important dates in his life, like his dedication (in a couple of weeks), his graduations, etc.  Gosh, I am so excited to experience all these important dates in his life and to know that I will be there from the very beginning.  I love him so much.  Added to Jacob's present was a book from my honey...a COOKBOOK!  Okay babe, I get the hint...I need to cook more often:)  Actually, he knows I love cookbooks, now I just need to start using them more.

Later this afternoon both sets of grandparents came over along with Uncle RJ, Auntie Sonnia, Auntie Di, Uncle Jeff and the boys, and Auntie Val and the kids. We had a full house, but it was special.  Daddy and Papa barbequed some chicken and ribs and we had a good lunch/dinner.  Jacob gave his grandmas his gift to them...a brag book with lots of pictures of him and them together, a frame with the cutest picture of him in it, and an angel bear that says "Grandmas are antiqued little girls"  They both loved their gifts.  Jacob had a good time today getting passed from one family member to another.  When everyone left he played in his gym for a while...I think he enjoyed being on his own for a while:)

Overall, today was a beautiful day.  It feels so good being Jacob's mommy and I look forward to many many many more Mother's Days with him.  Mommy and Daddy love you  baby!

Thank God for Nani!

This past weekend Jacob went to a graduation party for one of mommy's former students who graduated from college.  Jacob pretty much slept the whole time he was there.  When we got home late in the afternoon mommy wasn't feeling very well and realized she had a temperature.  So while mommy slept, daddy and Jacob had a good time together.  That night, Jacob decided that he had too much sleep during the day and he wanted to play all night.  Needless to say, mommy and daddy were EXHAUSTED Sunday morning and had to call for backup.  Thank God for Nani!  She came right over and played with Jacob while mommy and daddy got to sleep for a little over 3 hours straight with no interruption!  WE LOVE NANI!  Jacob had a great time with Nani.  later that evening, Papa came over and made us all some turkey burgers...wow what a relief grandparents are!

It has been pretty hot this week so Jacob has been spending most of the days with only a onesie on.  He love is, but I think he enjoys being in just a diaper the best.  He loves when mommy changes his diaper and gives him "raspberries' on his tummy.  He also cracks up when daddy holds him and says "who you talkin to"  it's so funny what things make him so happy.  Lately he's been rolling over a lot when he's in his play gym...the only problem is that he doesn't like to roll back over onto his back...so when he rolls onto his tummy, he's like a little bug that gets stuck there and then he starts to cry, so one of us has to go and help him roll back over.  Silly little boy.  I know eventually he will get the hang of things.

Alright, it's late and mommy is pretty tired tonight, so this will have to be it for now...so until the next time I get a chance to write...mommy and daddy love you!

First Fever :(

It's been a while since we last posted.  I guess we've been pretty busy.  Jacob spent Monday recuperating from his long weekend trip.  Tuesday afternoon Jacob and mommy went to mommy's work to have lunch with Auntie Melinda and so that mommy could turn in her resignation papers.  So it's official, I won't be returning to King High School.  I went to talk to my old students to tell them that I won't be going back.  That is when I really felt that I was done.  I am happy to be staying home with Jacob and really, I'm happy not to be going back to work at King.  It was a great place to work, but it's time to move on.  Things have changed there a lot and I can see that it's not where I'm supposed to be anymore.  Even if I did have to go back to work, I think I would work closer to home anyway.  I only traveled to Riverside everyday because I loved where I worked.  Now, I can't really say that.  As time passes, things change and so do people.  I will miss a few people that work there, but I know I will keep in touch with them anyway, so I'm really not losing out on anything.  i will miss working with the students I had this year because they were great...but kids come and go and when I do go back to work,i'm sure I'll meet some more amazing kids. For now, all that I'm concerned about is MY amazing little boy.

Anyway, when we got home from my work Jacob spit up some yellow stuff.  I was a little concerned, but then about an hour later he spit more up and it was A LOT more...almost to the point that I would call it throw up.  I was very concerned and called the doctor.  They said not to worry and to just keep an eye on him.  Later that night when I was feeding him before he went to sleep I noticed that he felt warm.  We took his temperature and he had 100.2 temperature.  So we gave him some tylenol and let him sleep with us.  I didn't want him spitting up and choking and I wanted him close to me.  he was perfectly fine Wednesday morning and ever since then.  I have a feeling that he is starting to teeth.  he is drooling A LOT and his lower gums are puffy in the front.  It may be a little early for him to actually be cutting teeth, but this may be the beginning signs that teeth are coming soon.

Yesterday, we all went to Chino Hills city hall for the National Day of prayer.  Our neighbor, Pastor Frank was speaking, so we thought we would go check it out.  We saw cousin Gina there and had a good time talking to her after it was over.

We are hoping for a relaxing weekend where Jacob gets some sleep at night.  he's been waking up 2-3 times a night, so hopefully he has a restful weekend so mommy and daddy can have one too:)  Mommy and Daddy love you!
