6 months old! (already)

Today Jacob turned 6 months old!  We cannot believe how old he is already.  We celebrated this milestone by going to visit the doctor for his check up and shots (ouch).  Over the past month, Jacob grew another inch and a quarter to put him at 27 inches long and weighed in at 14 lbs. 11 ounces.  As usual, he is above average on height and well below average in his weight.  Our doctor was not concerned stating that he is progressing at his own level and he's fine:)  After the check up with the doctor the nurse came in for the 4 shots!  Poor baby, good thing she was fast, but he did scream and turned bright red.  I held him tight when it was over and he was fine after about a minute.

Later in the afternoon Jacob and I drove over to the YMCA to sign him up for parent-tot swim classes.  He will be taking "swim" lessons every Tuesday and Thursdays in the month of July.  I'm sure we'll have a great time and are hoping that daddy can join us for a lesson or two.  When we got home, Jacob was nice and hungry so he nursed and fell asleep while nursing.  He hasn't done that in a long time.  I think he must have been very tired.  When he was done nursing I snuggled him up close to me and he slept on me.  He hasn't done that in a long time and I enjoyed his short nap with me.  He felt so good being so close to me!  When he woke up I thought I would try to give him some sweet potatoes for the first time.  Of course I called daddy to come down and watch (and video) the event.  I really did not think he would eat a whole lot, so I poured a little bit in a bowl and gave him his first bite.  Well he really really enjoyed it because they little mouth was opened wide searching for the next spoonful!  He was so adorable with his orange smile!  He looked like the Joker while he was eating.  He had a smile on his face almost the entire time.  When he was done with the small amount I originally put in the bowl, I poured a little more in and he gobbled it right up, so he ended up finishing the entire container!  WOW! I couldn't believe it.  Daddy was there watching and was surprised too!  What a good boy.  We'll keep him on the sweet potatoes for the next 2 days and then we will try something new...maybe peas????

We played a while the rest of the afternoon and then when daddy was done working he came and played with Jacob.  Daddy took Jacob outside in the front yard to check out the view and then he gave him a bottle and put him to sleep!  Wow, I think that was a first (or maybe a second).  Anyway, good job daddy!

Jacob has brought so much joy to our lives.  There are so many things I love about him and there are things that I already miss about him.  I read the first few posts the other day and remembered all the cute stuff he used to do.  I miss the way he used to sound like a little puppy sometimes when he slept.  I miss how he would be startled and throw out his arms as if he was saying "praise the Lord."  I miss how he would snuggle up to me with his head on my shoulder and his legs all curled under and fall asleep.  I miss his "touchdown" sleeping position.  I do miss so many things that he no longer does, but there are so many new things to love about him.

I love to see him to a push up and turn his head to us so that we can say how proud we are of him.  I love to hear him grunt as he struggle to move while on his tummy in search for something he wants.  I love how whenever there is something in front of him, he wants it (no matter what it is) and if he gets it, it instantly goes near his mouth.  I love the way he sings to me as I nurse him on the right side...boy does he sing loud!  I love how he wakes up every morning with a smile on his face.  I love how does a 180 in his crib and we find his head where his feet used to be in the morning.  I love to see him through the monitor waking up, doing a push up and looking around.  I love his smile and how he will smile at people.  I love when he smiles to hard that his little nose scrunhces up.  I love it when we are feeding him and his little mouth is open looking for the next bite.  I love how he takes a deep breath when he gets put in his bath.  I love how he loves to splash the water EVERYWHERE when in his bathtub.  I love how he plays with a washcloth when he is taking a bath.  I love how excited he is when he's a "naked baby."  I even love the sound of his cry...it's still cute (sometimes!).  I love to see him and his daddy sitting in the back yard watching the birdies fly by.  I love to watch him play in his exersaucer and get frustrated when the toy doesn't do what he wants it to do.  I love when he gets excited and does his little scream.  I love to watch him through the rear view mirror in the car and see him playing with his Mickey or catepillar in the car.  I love when he sits at the computer with daddy that he wants to type on the keyboard.  I love how he hates to have his nose cleaned...he will turn his head back and forth so fast to avoid the "picker."  I love that he knows the camera already and will smile for it:)  There is so much more that I love about him and I know there are so many more things I will learn to love about him in the future.  My baby is getting so big already, but I am happy that I am cherishing every moment I have with him.  The time did go by fast, but at the same time, it has gone by so slow.  I am so blessed that Bill and I have been there for all the new things he's done and we can hardly wait to be there to see what is yet to come.  Mommy and Daddy love you buddy!

Princess Party

Before we get to the princess party...

Since Jacob is now drinking from his bottle, mommy and daddy were able to go on a date:)  It was nice to be alone, but the whole time we missed our little boy.  When we got home Jacob was sound asleep and Nani said they had a good time together.  I think Jacob missed us because he ended up waking up at 11pm, he used the excuse that he was hungry, but Bill and I know it was because he wanted to see us before he was truly out for the night.

This afternoon we went to a Princess birthday party for Alyssa who turned 3 today.   Mommy and Daddy can't believe what a big girl Alyssa is now.  We still remember seeing her in the hospital room the day she was born.  Anyway, she's a little princess now and we were invited to her birthday party.  She had a big princess jumper and all the little kids were jumping in it (with their dads).  Daddy was in there (without Jacob of course) and used the excuse that he was video taping.  I think the dads liked the jumper more than the kids.  Before we knew it all the kids were out and the dads were still in there.  I think the kids thought it was a little too rough with all the "big" boys in it.  Jacob had a good time at his friend's birthday.  He was fascinated with the balloons they had in their house.  The minute we walked in the house Auntie Melinda grabbed Jacob and mommy and daddy watched him get passed around from person to person.  But he had a good time:)

Later this evening we met Nani, Papa, Grandnina, Corty and Taylor at El Pollo Loco for a quick (late) dinner.  Jacob was so tired, he fell asleep in the car (a 5 minute car ride, if that) and was OUT when we got home.  He didn't even wake up as I took him out of the car seat.  Before I layed him in his crib I was holding him like I used to hold him when he was weeks old to go to sleep.  His head was on my shoulder.  When he was about 2 months old and younger he would fall asleep in that position.  Now he likes to be held "like a baby" to fall asleep.  Anyway, as I was holding him before I put him down, I remembered how little he was when I held him like that.  Now his legs dangle down to my legs, whereas before they would be crunched into his body and not even touch my waist.  I will admit a few tears came out of my eyes as I realized my little baby is growing up.  Monday he will be 6 months old already!  I can't believe it.  I love that he is growing bigger and learning new things, but at the same time sometimes I wish he was still a little tiny newborn.  Daddy walked into Jacobs room as I was holding him swaying back and forth with a tear running down my face.  I think he thought I was being a little silly for crying, but it does make me a little sad knowing our baby is getting so big, but that's a good thing that he's growing up.  I can't wait for his doctor's appointment on Monday to find out how long he is and how much he weighs...I really hope he has gained more weight.  I think he looks bigger and he is definitely longer!

Tomorrow we are going to see Jacob's friend Aiden and his mommy, daddy and brother.  Aiden and Jacob are only 6 days apart so it will be fun to put the two of them together to see how well they "play" together!  So until we write again...mommy and daddy love you!

Meeting Mickey Mouse

This afternoon Jacob went to Disneyland for the first time.  First Picture at DisneylandThe first thing we did was to take a family picture in front of the Mickey flowers as you walk in the main entrance.  As we walked into the park we saw 4 characters, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto!  Of course we got in line to take a picture with Mickey Mouse first...(can you believe you now have to stand in line to take pictures with the characters?  Remember the old days when you just had to be an aggressive kid to get in there to give Mickey a hug).  While standing in line daddy went to buy Jacob his first set of Mickey ears....SOOO CUTE!  Picture with MickeyJacob was wearing his Angels hat to help keep the sun out of his eyes and since his Mickey ears are still on the big side, we put the ears on over his hat.  He looked adorable.  We got our family picture with Mickey and went on to Donald.  After a shot with Dad, Jacob and Donald, we rushed over to see Pluto and Goofy.  Mom and Jacob got a picture with Pluto, but by the time we did that Goofy was on a break!  PlutoOh well, maybe next time.  All the picture taking can make a kid hungry, so we found a cool spot in the shade and daddy gave Jacob his bottle.  Once Jacob had a full belly we were on our way to Mommy's favorite spot...yep, Snow White's Wishing Well.  We made sure to tell Jacob that that was the place daddy asked mommy to marry him.  Wishing wellWe took a few pictures there and then some in front of the castle.  We worked our way into strollerville, I mean Fantasyland (the place mommy always tried to avoid while working at Disneyland).  It was definitely crowded in there but we eventually made it out and headed to Toon Town in hopes of catching a few more pictures with characters.  Unfortunately there were no characters there:(  So as we headed out, Jacob fell asleep.  Daddy was strolling him on the cobblestone and Jacob loves the bumps and knocked right out!  We decided that was our cue to leave.  Daddy wanted to check out the new submarine "Finding Nemo" ride, but as we walked by the wait was 2 HOURS!!!  No way were we going to wait in that line with a 6 month old.  Oh well, maybe next time, or when the new-ness of the ride wears out.  We walked a little more through all the different lands and then headed out.  On our way out we ran into Princess Jasmine.  So we stopped to take a picture.  Jacob was very excited to see the Princess.  When we walked up to her he held his hand out to her and had a BIG smile on his face.  He didn't smile like that for any of the other character!  The little flirt.  JasminePrincess Jasmine was very impressed with Jacob, but I told her he was too young for her:)  besides isn't she married???  hehe  With that we ended our trip to Disneyland.  We were only there about 3 hours, but it seemed much longer.  Mommy and Daddy were wiped out!  Jacob must have been too because he slept the whole way home (after a little bit of fussing).  You can view the rest of the pictures HERE.

We were so happy to share this place with Jacob and we know one day he will be running around the whole place.  We can't wait to take him when he can get on the rides and have lots of fun.

This evening when we were giving Jacob his bath, he decided he wanted to steal the washcloth from mommy, so mommy gave him his own washcloth to play with while she bathed him.  Daddy tried taking it away from him and he cried until he gave it back!  Oh my gosh, that was the first time he's ever cried for anything.  We couldn't believe it.  Of course daddy had to make sure that was what he was crying for so he took it away from him again and again Jacob cried.  Oh no, it's starting!

We also opened up Jacob's college fund.  We decided that Jacob needs to go to a public college because there is no way we can afford a private school 18 years from now.  Wow, would that be expensive!  The price of a public school will be bad enough.  So we had a talk with Jacob while we were opening the account to tell him how important getting a college education is, but I doubt he had any idea what we were talking about.  I guess we will have to continue to remind him as he gets older:)

Well, we are all pooped from a long day.  Jacob woke up at 5:30 this morning and really hasn't taken a good nap.  I'm surprised he is still awake right now!  I'm hoping he falls asleep soon, because I will fall asleep right after he does:)  So until we write again, mommy and daddy love you!!! (and Mickey does too:) )

Father's Day

Today was my very first father’s day and it was awesome!

The day started off by Jacob waking up and smiling at daddy!  We then tried to decide which outfit Jacob should wear to the Angels and Dodgers game at Dodgers stadium.  Since he has outfits for both teams and his daddy likes the Angels (while his Papa likes the Dodgers), it was a battle between which one he should wear.  I decided to have Jacob wear the Dodgers outfit first and then change later to an Angels fan because I didn’t want Jacob to go home wearing losing colors ;).  You can check out the pictures by clicking HERE.

Bill and Jake

We then headed off with Nani and Papa to go pick up Grandpa to carpool to the game.  When we got there, we ended up scoring BIG TIME by getting premium parking at the top and only having to walk about 20 feet to get into the stadium. That was really cool especially since it was a little warm and we had lots of food with us.

RJ and JacobWe eventually met up with Uncle RJ and Auntie Sonia (and her parents).   RJ was so happy to see Jacob.  They were hanging out together and took lots of pictures.  Next, the game started and Jacob ended up going pee all over his Dodgers outfit – I guess he was showing everyone what he really thinks of them.  We then put on his true colors... the Angels outfit and he looked really cool.  Everyone around us was checking him out and they thought he looked like a real cool little dude!!!  After changing him, the Angels started to do really well too and in the end, the Angels ended up pounding the Dodgers, 10 to 4.

Our familySo now we’re back home and just kicking it.  What was really cool about this weekend is that he finally was able to take a bottle.  Nani came over and helped Jacob eat from a bottle.  Daddy just fed him a 6 oz bottle at 6:45 and he did very well!  Soooo...no more saga with the bottle.  WAY TO GO JAKE!

Thanks for the best father’s day any daddy could ask for.  Missy is a wonderful mother to Jacob and she really made my day today! Jacob got me a really cool picture gallery with daddy-to-son sayings on it, a cool mouse pad with his picture (I'm using it now), a frame with some pictures of us in it, and a really cool daddy book to read to him at night.  I was expecting a great day and it ended up being so much more than what I expected.  I couldn’t sleep and woke up early because I was so excited to take on the day.  I don’t want today to end but I know it has to.  But I’m fine with that… because I will see my precious Jacob tomorrow and be so proud of him.

Mommy and Daddy love you buddy.  Today you were a champ!

The bottle saga continues

Today was the day we set aside to have Jacob eat from a bottle.  This whole week I took Jacob to Nani's office during lunchtime to have her give him the bottle.  Of course he screamed and screamed each time the nipple touched his lip.  There wasn't really enough time to keep trying so each day we had to give in and I had to nurse him so that Nani could go back to work.  So we both decided that on Saturday we would spend the entire day trying to feed him from the bottle.  The plan was to have Nani spend the night Friday night and she would be the one to wake up with him and only give him the bottle the entire day.  Something came up and nani couldn't spend the night so when Jacob woke up at 1:30 I nursed him.  Then he woke up at 7:00 and we played for a while then at 7:30 I tried giving him a bottle.  I had no breastmilk stored so I mixed 4 oz. of formula to start with.  While playing in his exersaucer I introduced the bottle to him in a playful way.  He reached for it and of course, as with everything else, he tried to put it straight in his mouth...good sign I thought.  After about a minute of playing with the nipple in his mouth, I tried tipping the bottle so he could taste the formula.   He did and it wasn't too bad...so I took him out of the exersaucer and onto my lap.  Again we played with the bottle for a little bit and then tried giving him some forumla.  He wasn't so keen on it.  My next attempt was walking around with him while saying "mmmmm"  and "yeah" while giving him the bottle.  The second he tasted the formula he screamed.  I kept trying and trying and he kept screaming.  After about 45 minutes of this and me getting worried that the formula was going to go bad he started to make some progress.  He was crying so much that he was trying to soothe himself.  In his attempts to soothe himself, he actually took some gulps of the formula.  YEAH!  But, after a couple of gulps, the screaming continued.  Nani arrived at about 8:20 and took over.  Finally after 1 hour and 30 minutes he managed to drink 3 ounces!  Not enough in my book, but at least some progress was made.  I made him some rice cereal becasue I wanted him to have something in his stomach for breakfast:)

At his next feeding, I was able to pump earlier in the morning so he tried some breastmilk.  I thought for sure this would go over much better, but not so much.  Nani was doing a good job with him as he fussed and cried and eventually managed to drink 2 ounces before putting himself to sleep.  I was still worried that he wasn't eating enough, but had to get over it.  I knew today was going to be hard and that he might not eat what he should.  After his nap and a little play time we tried again with some breast milk and formula.  This time we tried a different bottle.  One that was recommended to me, but that I had not tried yet.  I've had it sitting on the counter for about a week, but hadn't opened it up yet.  This was now the 5th type of bottle we were going to try.  So in went ONE ounce of breast milk...I am not going to waste that stuff!  After a little bit of fussing, he drank it all up.  We then put another 2 ounces and he slurped it up quickly...I had no more breastmilk so I mixed two ounces of formula.  He hesitated a little, but with some coaxing from Nani and her gentle touch, he drank all of that too!  OH MY GOSH!!!  He did it!  I was so excited.  He played some more and then decided a nap was in order.

During his nap Bill and I went to run some errands.  Bill finally put the fish tank in the house so we needed to get some stuff for the tank and bought a few more fish.  Bill picked one out for Father's day and I got one for Jacob.  When we returned Jacob was awake and playing with Papa.  about an hour later he got hungry again.  This time we started him off with 4 ounces of breastmilk.  Again he was a little fussy in the beginning, but he drank it up fairly quickly.  Then we made some formula and he drank about an ounce of it and decided he was done.  I mixed up some cereal to see if he would eat it and Papa fed him about 2 tablespoons or so of cereal.  Good dinner!

I am so proud of Jacob and excited that he is finally taking the bottle.  Today was rough, but thank God for my mom.  She is a trooper and really got Jacob to take the bottle.  Now the real test is going to be if I can give it to him.  My mom will stay the night tonight and give him the bottle through the night and then we'll go at it again tomorrow.  I don't want to nurse him until Monday at the earliest in hopes that he sticks with the bottle.  But I also don't want him not to nurse anymore.  I don't know how much longer I will actually nurse him, I just know I'm not quite ready to stop, but I do want him to take the bottle to give me a break once in a while and to allow Bill and I to get out of the house without Jacob once in a while so we can have some "alone" time.  I also don't want to have to be exclusively nursing Jacob until he is 1.  I've heard those choppers can really hurt!

He is such a good boy and as my mom kept reminding me, no one is perfect so I guess this is his imperfection.  Today was successful.  He did not nurse at all (well except for 1:30 this morning) and we will see what happens tomorrow.

Tomorrow is Father's Day (Bill's first) so we are taking the dads to the Dodgers vs. Angels game at Dodger stadium.  This will be Jacob's first baseball game and his first sporting event.  He has two outfits for tomorrow because Dad and Grandpa are Angels fans and Papa is a Dodgers fan.  So of course he will please everyone and wear a Dodger's outfit and then an Angel's outfit.  I know Bill is excited about his first Father's Day and I hope Jacob and I can make it special for him.

Well I'm feeling a little better about this bottle situation and I thank God for answering prayers and having Jacob eat from the bottle.  I just pray that this continues.  So until next time, mommy and daddy love you!

Party, Party and more Party

Jacob has had a busy weekend so far.  It started Friday afternoon when he went to a BBQ at one of my co-worker's house.  The Social Studies Department at King always has an end of the year BBQ and we were invited this year.  We had a great time watching all the other "big kids" play in the pool, on the play yard and in this really cool water slide thing.  Bill and I are ready to buy one, it looked like so much fun.  Neither one of us really held him while we were there because as soon as he walked in the door, Auntie Melinda grabbed him and barely gave him back to us when we wanted to leave.

Friday night Jacob went to bed about 8:30 and didn't wake up until 4:30am!!!!  Wow, we were excited about that one.  Saturday morning I had to wake him up to eat and get dressed so we could make our way down to San Diego for his friend Matt's baptism.  We made it there in time and had a good time seeing Matt.  Cooper was at the party too and Jacob met some other cool kids too!

After we left Matt's baptism we were on our way to the OC for his cousin Bryce's first birthday party!  It was another swim party!  Once again, we didn't have to hold Jacob most of the time because his aunties and cousins were all over him.  He got to see GG again and that was nice.  Bryce is a big boy already and we had fun at his birthday party. Jacob got a "goodie bag" as he left, it was a sand bucket and some sand toys...I'm sure he's going to LOVE those when he gets a little bigger...thanks Bryce...your party was great!

Bill and I are SUPER tired today, we both basically woke up at 4:30 this morning and really didn't go back to sleep and then Bill had to do all that driving today...we are ready for bed and it's only 7:45...but Jacob's asleep, so we may just follow his lead:)  so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

New Friends

This morning Jacob and I went to the mommy and me group at our church for the first time.  There are LOTS of little ones running around in this group.  Boy, are they adorable!  When we first arrived all the little kids were running around the room playing tag.  Jacob was intrigued.  He was watching everything they were doing and smiling A LOT.  A little later another mom with a 4 month old girl came in.  We ended up talking the whole time and our babies were smiling back and forth at eachother.  I really think Jacob enjoyed his time there.  He wouldn't stop watching what all the kids were doing.  I think when he gets older he's really going to like going there.

Later in the afternoon I tried giving Jacob some formula out of a sippy cup instead of a bottle.  He struggled at first, but eventually got the hang of sucking out of it.  It looked a little complicated for him so I quickly put some formula into a bottle and tried again with the bottle.  He took a few sucks, got a little formula in him and then he was done.  Although the mission was not totally successful, I did make progress and that made me feel a little better.  After Bill got off work, the two boys played with eachother while I worked on some Father's Day present stuff.

Alright, it's currently 1:53 am.  I just finished feeding Jacob and putting him back to sleep.  He woke up at about 12:30 with a stuffed up nose.  So out came the "nose picker" (which he HATES).  I was trying to use it while he was drowsy, but as soon as he felt it go up his nose, he started screaming...but I was victorious and picked a winner:)  Once he could breath again, he decided he was hungry and did not want to go back to sleep until he got what he wanted...so here I am writing at 2am because I can't get back to sleep now.  I wonder when the next time I get to sleep the whole night through will be?  This little munchkin likes to wake up between 11:30pm and 1am to eat.  Which is fine except, I haven't been able to fall asleep easily lately.  I think I am just anticipating him waking up and don't want to fall asleep until I've feed him again, but it never fails, as soon as I doze off, Jacob wakes up about 15-30 minutes later!  Then he'll wake up again sometime between 3:30 and 5:30am for another feeding.  He sure seems to be eating a lot, but his skinny body is not showing for it.  Today he nursed and then I gave him some cereal.  I made the first "batch," fed it to him and with the last spoonful he was still going after the spoon.  When there was no more he was still leaning in for the spoon. So I made a little more and he gobbled that up quickly, but I think that last little bit satisfied him.  He is so funny when he eats his cereal, he's getting pretty good at eating and keeping it in his mouth.  It will be interesting to see how he does with fruits and veggies.  I'm sure his face will be quite messy.  Right now it's not so bad because the cereal is basically white and blends in with his white skin:)  But once we get those carrots and peas in, I'm sure we'll have some very funny but cute pictures to take.

Alright, my eyes are starting to burn so hopefully I'll fall asleep fast.  Good night and always remember mommy and daddy love you Jacob!

Happy Birthday Grandma

Today was Grandma Gloria's birthday.  We took her to breakfast at Coco's this morning.  Jacob was a good boy with her and he was all smiles for grandma and grandpa.  After breakfast we came home and Jacob ate LOTS of cereal, more than he's eaten before.  Then we thought since he was on a roll we would try the bottle again.  Nani was here so mommy went outside while Nani tried the bottle.  She tried several attempts to give him the bottle, even trying to trick him a couple of times...but he's no dummy.  He knew it was the bottle every time and of course, threw a fit.  After SEVERAL attempts, we gave up again and mommy fed Jacob.  As soon as I took him from Nani (as he was still screaming) he stopped crying and looked over my shoulder to Nani and smiled.  That little booger!  He knows exactly what he's doing.  His smile was almost one of, Ha...I showed you who's boss here!

Later in the afternoon he took a long nap after playing for a long time.  Then after mommy and daddy ate dinner daddy was on the floor with Jacob and Jacob was cracking up.  I think that was the most I've ever heard him laugh and it was a hearty laugh.  They are so cute when they play together!  Jacob loves his daddy.  He is really the only one that can make him really laugh!  After we put Jacob to sleep I checked my email and Auntie Alana and cousin Jeanne sent us a link that showed Jacob dancing.  It was the funniest thing.  We had to send it along to everyone else.  here's a link.  I'm not sure it will work later, but we'll give it a try anyway...http://www.paloozahead.com/561226-25fe-98641

So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

lunch with friends

This afternoon Jacob met up with two of his friends, Matthew and London (and their mommies Auntie Jen and Melina), for lunch in Temecula.  Jacob was a good boy during lunch and so were his friends!  We all had a good time talking and eating.  Jacob's friends are 9 months old and they are big boys.  They like to eat and drink from bottles so Mommy was telling Jacob to watch them and take notes.  Jake is still not taking the bottle.  We went and bought two different bottle/nipples today.  One of the nipples was shaped like his pacifier, which he loves, and still he would not take it.  His nani came over this evening and mommy told her to try giving him the bottle.  I don't think Nani has ever seen Jacob cry that much.  Again he made the gagging motion:(  the little stinker.  We even tried two different types of nipples (slow and fast) and still nothing.  Tomorrow we will try again with the same bottle and then if that doesn't work in a couple of days we'll try the other bottle we bought today.  I know eventually he'll take to it.

Yesterday Jacob and mommy went to King High to see a rally (the end of the year one).  Jacob must not have been too interested in it because he fell asleep during it and it was fairly loud in the gym.  he was a good boy again.  He was smiling at all the students and all of mommies friends at work.  It was nice to see everyone but mommy reaffirmed that she really doesn't miss working now that she has Jacob.  On Tuesday evening the whole family went to the ASB banquet.  The ASB students had mommy as their guest of honor and gave her a gift certificate to say thank you for the half year she put in.  Again, it was great to see the kids, they really are great people, but mommy said she didn't really miss the work.

Jacob had a busy week spending most of the time playing of course.  He slept in his bed the whole week without having to go into mommy and daddy's bed.  He likes sleeping on his belly.  Friday morning when we woke up and checked on Jacob, his bottom was sticking straight up in the air.  He looked so cute!  When mommy puts him down to sleep he usually rolls right over to his side, once in a while he will stay on his back.  By morning he is totally on his tummy.  He has been waking up once to eat early in the morning between 1 and 3am.  Then he usually wakes up fussy at some other point at night.  Mommy puts some music on and he goes right back to sleep.  He continues to love his exersaucer.  On Friday he discovered how to pull down on one of the toys to make it play music.  So he pulled on it a few times in a row.  Mommy's not convinced that he knew he was making it sing, but more that he was holding on to the toy and when he shook his arm he pulled on it.  But we know eventually he will pulling the heck out of those toys.  He is discovering more and more of the toys and how they work.  He's figured out how to turn the pages on the "book" that is there and he still loves the thing that rolls.  Mommy loves to watch his face as he plays in it.  He has his inquisitive look and then his excited look when he is enjoying it.  He is so adorable.

Tomorrow is Grandma's birthday so we are taking her out to breakfast.  I'm sure we will all have a great time with her...so until tomorrow when we check in again, mommy and daddy love you!
