Disneyland

Today Jacob went to Disneyland with mommy, daddy, grandpa, Auntie Alana and cousin Jeanne.    Jacob was ready to go, he already had his morning nap in and was full of energy.  After a quick bottle (which he was almost holding himself) we headed to the Jungle Cruise.  This is the first ride Jacob has ever been on.  He did GREAT!  We thought he would get a little scared when they shot the gun off, but he was a trooper and wasn't phased by it at all.  Our next stop was Pirates of the Carribean.  Again he did great.  He did start to cry a little bit in the very dark parts, but mommy held on to him tight and calmed him down quickly.  After that, mommy and Jacob waited for as everyone went on Splash Mountain.  Jacob's still a little too young for that one and decided to eat some veggies while he was waiting.  Then we got on the Winnie the Pooh ride.  He definitely did not like that one.  It was REALLY loud in that ride and he was not having the loud noises.  So after that we decided to take a break and get a nap in while the others went on another ride.  Mommy and Jacob found a shady spot where it was nice a cool and Jacob took a little snooze.  When he woke up he was ready to go again.  We headed over to Indiana Jones where he waited and was watching all the people walk by.  He is one nosey kid.  Of course everyone commented on how adorable he was!  DUH!  Then we went to California adventure.  Wow, he was doing so well.  He loves kicking back in his stroller watching all the people.  he was playing with a bottle full of water and every so often took a little sip to keep himself hydrated:)  He had a great time playing with Grandpa as he ate waiting for Daddy, auntie and cousin to get off a scary ride.  After another ride for the grown ups it was back to Disneyland, and by this time, Jacob was pooped out.  Mommy took him to the baby center where he changed, had a bottle and was rocked to sleep.  When we got out, we decided to head home.  It was already 8:30 and way past his bedtime.  He was asleep in mommy's arms as we left Disneyland.  He did so well the entire day.  He wasn't fussy at all and made us all smile.  Grandpa loved spending the day with him as did his auntie and cousin.  We all enjoyed the day together.  We think Grandpa was just as pooped as Jacob was at the end of the night, but he was a trooper and was going to stay to see the fireworks with Alana and Jeanne.  Jacob's grandpa is the best!  Of course, Jacob was wearing his mickey ears most of the time, but now he knows how to take them off, so he was playing with them a lot.  He was wearing his pooh surfer outfit and looked adorable:)

This past Saturday was Jeanne's 20th birthday.  We went to the Parson's house for a birthday get together.  We had a great time spending time with the family.  Jacob was glad that he could spend his birthday with his oldest cousin!  He was almost crawling while he was there.  His cousin Kevin had fun putting toys in front of him in hopes that he would crawl to them.  He was definitely getting the toys, but he was using his military crawl, which is just fine.  He's good at getting what he wants.

On Sunday we just kicked back at our house.  Jacob helped his daddy BBQ some yummy ribs.  We put a blanket out on the grass and sat Jacob down.  Of course in less than 2 seconds he was trying to feel the grass... but he's a little too young for that itchy stuff so we kept having to pull him away from the edge of the blanket.  He may not crawl, but his is quick!

Well, Jacob is sound asleep.  I hope he has a good nights rest like he has the past couple of nights.  I know he is very tired tonight...and so am I so, until next time baby, mommy and daddy love you!

Swinging away

Jacob had a GREAT night last night, he pretty much slept from about 8pm to 7am.  He only woke up twice in search of his pacifier.  Wow, we were shocked this morning when we got to sleep in!  What a great feeling.  This afternoon we had lunch with Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Alana, Jeanne, Auntie Val and Danielle at a place near Auntie Val's work.  There was a farmer's market there so we walked around a little bit but we were all hungry so we went to get some lunch before Aunt Val had to go back to work.  While at lunch Jacob was supposed to have a bottle, but since there was so much going on he was not interested in laying back for a few minutes to eat.  Instead he refused the bottle and wanted to play with everyone.  It's a bit frustrating that when we are around others or in a new location Jacob is not interested in drinking his formula.  So he basically skipped a whole bottle today, that's not a good thing.  He was okay with eating some sweet potatoes and peaches, when he eats that he can sit up and see everything that is going on.  We are going to have to work on giving him bottles in public now:)

Later in the afternoon Jacob and I went to visit Nani and Papa, they really hadn't spent time with him since last week and in their words, that is too long.  Nani is feeling much better now and is able to hold Jacob again:)  Papa took Jacob to the park and put him in the swing for the first time.  He LOVED it.  Then two little girls came to swing next to him.  He was stretching his neck so he could watch them swing too.  He is so funny.  He has to be in the know of everything.  I think he was also trying to hear what they are talking about (I think he gets that trait from his mommy hehe).  So Papa and Jacob hung out for a while at the park just the two of them (and Harley of course).  When we got home, he drank his bottle (all of it, thank goodness) and went straight to sleep.  I think that swing ride wore him out.  Tomorrow we are going to pick up his 6 month pictures (finally).  I am so excited to see them.  So until next time...mommy and daddy love you

7 months old already!

Seven months have FLOWN by.  Our little guy is getting bigger and stronger every day.  He is sitting up, smiles all the time and loves to talk.  We have major conversations with him now, yet we have no idea what we are talking about:).  He is eating a lot more these days.  I am pretty much done nursing him.  He only nurses when he wakes up early in the morning (between 4 and 5am), other than that he is on formula.  In some ways it's sad, but I also know that he is getting enough food now.  I know I wasn't giving him enough.  The weaning process was a breeze because I was already not producing a lot.  He loves to eat his food.  He has cereal (rice or oatmeal) and fruit in the morning, veggies (and sometimes fruit) for lunch and another veggie for dinner along with his bottles of formula.  Whenever daddy feeds him he gobbles up his food quickly.  I think it's because daddy gives him "daddy spoonfuls" whereas I tend to put less food on the spoon.  It's so funny how different we are when we care for him.  We change his diaper in different ways.  Of course I think the way I do it is the best way and he thinks the way he does it is the best way.  Either way, Jacob is cared for very well and loved very much by both of us.  Bill is still better at giving him a bottle.  He knows how to hold him just right so that he drinks up.  With me on the other hand, Jacob likes to look around and gets easily distracted.  I don't know what I'm doing, but it still takes me longer to give him a bottle.  Jacob is napping more consistently during the day and for longer periods of time.  He will ususally sleep for 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours in the morning about a couple hours after he wakes up.  Then he'll take an afternoon nap at about 2 or so for about an hour and sometimes he take a quick snooze at about 5pm.  It is really nice when he naps during the day for several reasons, one, it gives me time to get stuff done, but also because he tends to sleep a little better at night.  I remember the days when he would only nap for 10-20 minutes at a time.  I thought I would never be able to get anything done during the day.  He is spitting up a lot less lately (but as I was thinking about writing about that and holding him at the same time, he spit up on me...too funny, but it was just a little bit, so no big deal).   Jacob loves to sit on the floor and play with his blocks and his stuffed baseball.  His favorite thing to look at is his fan in his room.  He just stares at the blades going round and round.

This weekend we were able to spend a lot of time with Auntie Alana and cousin Jeanne.  They were at our house Saturday night - Monday.  We had lots of fun with them.  Jacob had TONS of fun dancing with them.  Auntie Alana taught him how to do the cabbage patch, they looked so cute dancing together.  On Monday afternoon the girls babysat Jacob for a few hours while mommy had to take Nani to the doctors.  Apparently he was a pretty good boy for them.  He did give his Auntie a nice poopy diaper to clean up.  Jeanne put him down for his naps and sang to him.  How cute.  He did give them a hard time with the bottle, but he had to be a little bad for them, right?  We also got to see Auntie Val, Danielle and Scotty on Sunday night. We all went out to dinner together and that was a lot of fun.

Today we saw Jeanne and Danielle because we took them a surf board so they can go surfing at the beach today.  Jacob treated them to Coffee Bean and was very interested in mommy's drink and almost tried drinking out of the straw.  He was also very interested in the frozen loaf of bread daddy got out of the freezer this morning.  He was holding it over his head like he was a strong man.

Well, it's time to go play with Jacob.  So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!
