Merry Christmas & Happy Birthday Jacob!

We had a great CHRISTmas holiday!  On Christmas Eve, the Roberts family came to our house EVERYONE except Uncle Geoff was here. Jacob was in his PJs all evening, but it was great.  He had so much fun playing with all his cousins.  We had a great ham dinner with scalloped potatoes, green beans, macaroni and cheese, and monkey bread.  Of course there were lots of desserts too!  Santa came to visit Jacob even though he had a busy night of dropping off gifts to all the boys and girls.  He came to our house to drop off a small gift to Jacob while he was still awake.  He told Jacob he would be back to bring him his big gift.  We opened gifts after Santa left and Jacob had fun playing with his new truck and street carpet.  He also got some blocks and a Santa bear that played music.  Soon after we opened gifts it was time for Jacob to go night night.  He was a good boy and said good night to everyone and fell fast asleep.

He woke up nice and early on his Birthday morning...at 6:30 am!  a little too early for mommy and daddy, but we both went into his room to get him and sang Happy Birthday to him.  Our little boy is 2 already, I can't believe it.  After a little milk in our bed, he came downstairs to see what Santa brought him.  He was SO EXCITED to see his train table.  He did not leave the table ALL DAY LONG!!!  We had to pry him away from the table to have him open other presents.  Later in the morning, Nani and Papa came over and then Uncle RJ and Auntie Sonnia came and we opened more presents.  Jacob got a couple Wall-E figurines, the Wall-E movie, some clothes, shoes and a baseball mitt from Uncle RJ.  Later in the afternoon, Grandpa (aka Poo-pa), Auntie Alana, Jeanne, Grandnina and Anissa came over.  Jacob never left his choo-choo except to take a quick nap to rev up for more choo-choo playing.

After his nap, we sang Happy Birthday to him with his "Cars" cake I made for him.  He was so excited to actually blow out the candle that we had to do it twice, one for each year :)  We couldn't believe that he actually blew out the candle all by himself.  We had a few balloons and a Happy Birthday banner put up for him, but it still felt more like Christmas than his birthday.  Jacob had a GREAT day playing with all his gifts and spending time with family.

My Christmas wish came true when he woke up in the morning with NO hives!  Thank God they were gone.

I am so thankful to have such a wonderful husband, a precious baby (okay toddler) boy, and a loving family.  Christmas is such a wonderful time of year and now it's even more special because it's my baby's birthday!  so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

Stuck in the House

No we're not snowed in, but it seems like a lot of people were last week with all the rain and snow we had.  Uncle RJ and Auntie Sonnia had a lot of snow at their house last week, which is kinda cool.  No, unfortunately, we've been stuck in the house for almost a week because Jacob's been sick.  He started off with a cough last Wednesday.  Thursday he came down with a fever, which of course, kinda freaked me out.  Poor baby had a thermometer up his you-know-what every few hours.  I'm too paranoid when he has a fever.  His fever didn't break until Sunday mid afternoon.  This one lasted a long time.  He was also coughing a lot with some loose flem caught in there.  I made an appointment with the dr. for him on Monday morning.  When Jacob woke up Mon. morning he had hives around his diaper area, great, something else to be seen about.  At least we were about to see the doctor.  So off we went and the Dr. told us Jaco has RSV which is not too serious, but we did have to disinvite Auntie Vanessa and her family because we didn't want baby Nathaniel to get the virus.  If he got it, he would land up in the hospital.  The Dr. told us he was over the worst of it since the fever is now gone and he is sleeping better.  He didn't sleep well for 3 or 4 nights and finally Sunday night he had a good night's sleep. Anyway, Jacob was feeling a lot better on Monday but after his nap he woke up with the hives all over his body! UGH!!! I called the Dr. and they told me to give him some Benadryl.  So off I went to the store to get the medication.  I talked to the pharmacist and he seemed to think he was having a delayed reaction to the fever...what?!?!  you can get hives after a fever?  Gosh, I seriously never knew all this stuff.  Thanks to Jacob, I'm learning a lot!  Let's pray we don't have to learn any other medical stuff, other than how to treat a cold.

When he woke up this morning, all his hives are gone!  YIPPEE!! He slept really well last night and I think he's going to have a great day.  We are staying in for a few more days.  The Dr. said he's contagious for another week or so!  Oh my gosh, i can't believe it's that long, but we will obey the Dr.'s orders and stay away from other children for at least a week, which kind of stinks, but at least we can spend a lot of time together.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and all of the Roberts' family will come over for dinner.  Christmas Day/Jacob's birthday will be more low key with just my parents and brother and sister-in-law, but I'm sure both days will be great.  I can hardly wait to see what Jacob thinks of what Santa brings him for Christmas.  I wonder what he's going to get...so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

Our Gingerbread House

Today we all made a Gingerbread House.  Bill and I started it while Jacob was napping.  Jacob woke up about halfway through and started helping us with the landscaping.  He LOVED putting the "Cobblestone" lane in the front yard.  He used red hots for that.  When that was done, he said "more momma" so he made a little pond out of Mike and Ikes, when he was done with that he said "more momma" so he made a pile of snow with marshmallows, then another pond of these little round candies.  Then he went onto the back yard and made an ice skating rink with gummy bears skating on it.  The house came out really cute.  I did one half of the roof and Bill did the other side.  He also decorated the back of the house. I must say, he did a great job.  The floor was full of candy when we were done, but we had a great time :)
