Jacob updates with no cameras

We have three cameras in our family (one video and two still), and NONE of them work right now!  There is something wrong with the memory card on our small still camera, so we bought another one and are waiting for it to come in the mail.  The setting on Bill's SLR camera is all messed up (I wonder who messed it up?...Jacob?!?!) and he has to talk to someone who really knows cameras to help us get it back on the right mode and then our video camera has been out of commission since our trip to DC.  Someone (Bill) thought it wouldn't get damaged in the rain.  Well I guess water does damage an electronic product.  We finally bought a new video camera today so we can resume capturing Jacob's life on video.  In the meantime, we've missed out on a lot of funny things Jacob has done/said.  I am hoping to get our still cameras in operation again very soon so I can post some more pictures.  We did lose a few pictures that were on the memory card.  All of our pictures from Bill and my anniversary get-away were all lost and some others of Jacob.  Nothing too terribly important, but I do hate losing pictures!

Now onto Jacob.  He is cutting his 4 canine teeth all at about the same time and life has been pretty miserable for him this past week.  His top two broke through on Saturday night. Today I noticed, while he was screaming, that the bottom two are on the verge of breaking through.  We have been putting him to bed with a dose of Motrin to help his sleeping.  He basically did not sleep Saturday or Sunday night (and either did mommy or daddy!).  He is pretty miserable during the day too.  When his other teeth broke through, he was pretty much only miserable at night, but during the day he played like nothing was wrong.  Well not with these teeth.  He is crying a lot more during the day, throwing more and more tantrums and is generally a little more cuddly than he normally is.  Yesterday at Little Gym, he kept coming up to me and giving me hugs and wanting to sit with me.  Normally, the kid is running like a mad man all over the place and could really care less about where his mommy is.  So I know he is not feeling well.

Despite his discomfort, he is still a cute little boy.  Lately, out of nowhere he will start throwing kisses.  I love when he gives or throws kisses, he makes sure to make the MWOA sound nice and loud.  The other day he was playing in our room with some blocks and he stacked the blocks 7 high!  That was a first for him.  As he tried to put the 8th block on, they all came tumbling down.  He really likes it when he knocks the blocks down.  He has finally gotten to riding his Harley Davidson tricycle.  He calls it his "Kycle" (his version of motorcycle).  He will get on it and push himself all around the downstairs of our house.  He does get stuck sometimes and gets mad at his "Kycle" and starts crying.  So I am trying to use these opportunities to teach him patience (ha!) and how to deal with his frustration.  I will show him how to back out of the situation he got in and get out so he can ride again!  Once he realizes that he can still get around, the smile goes back on his face and he is a happy camper again.  He now recognizes and elephant and does his elephant sound and motion.  Daddy taught him to put his arm near his nose and lift it up and make the elephant sound.  So the sound isn't exactly the sound of an elephant, but he looks cute making the motion.  He still doesn't have the ruff ruff sound of a dog.  Instead he is still puffing to make the sound of the dog.  Whatever, it's cute!  I did teach him the "shhh" sound and motion the other day when we were waiting at the AAA office.  Though he has the motion and sound down (putting his index finger to his lip and saying "shh") he still hasn't gotten that that means to be quieter.  Oh well, I guess with time he will learn.  Something else he has learned is the word "freeze" and what it means.  In his little gym class they have a part where the kids are walking/running around in a circle and the instructor says freeze.  Jacob will stop and go in a squatting position.  At first I didn't know why he was doing that, and then I realized that when I show him "freeze" I tend to squat a little myself and put my arms out, as if an umpire is making the "safe" motion.  I don't know why I do that, but I've noticed I do that everytime, so now Jacob does that too.  The other day we were out and about and he was walking ahead of me a little too far for my comfort so I said "freeze" and he stopped, got into his squat postition and put his arms up.  So adorable.  Gosh, all the money we pay for the little gym class is so worth it.  Another thing he got from his mommy is a habit of making a motion with his feet when he is just standing there.  It's too hard to explain with words, so hopefully when we get our cameras operating again I can take video or a picture of it to explain.  I think it's cute and Bill thinks it's annoying.  So the other day I caught Jacob performing a habit of his dads.  When Bill is thinking he tends to bite on his tongue.  I caught Jacob making the same exact jesture as his dad.  Daddy was very proud and I just found it annoying :) hehe

Alright, that's all I can think of right now...I'm sure I'll post some more about Jacob's highlights soon!  So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

This afternoon Jacob experienced his first earthquake and it was centered here in Chino Hills!  A 5.4 quake.  Jake and I were shopping in an outdoor shopping area when it hit.  We are obviously fine and nothing happened to our house, just  afew pictures on the wall are a little crooked now. The shaking didn't seem to phase Jacob one bit!

Busy Weekend

We had quite the weekend.  It started Friday night when we went to Disneyland with Jacob's friend, Malaya and her parents, Lora and Matt.  We all had such a great time that we didn't want to leave, but when we realized it was already 9:15 we thought it was time to go.  Jacob didn't get to sleep until 10pm on the way home!

Saturday morning we took Jacob to the park.  While there he was running around like a crazy kid.  All of a sudden he was taking a step and falling, kind of funny.  He didn't cry or act unusual, except that he couldn't walk right.  He got back up, took another step and a half and fell again.  I thought something was wrong, but didn't say anything to Bill.  Then Bill got him and took him on the jungle gym (carrying him).  After going down the slide, Bill was holding his hand as he walked and I noticed a slight limp.  Bill let him walk on his own and he took a couple of steps and then fell again.  We took off his shoes thinking there was something wrong with his shoe, but no, he was still walking funny.  We left the park in search of an Urgent Care.  I called his doctor and made an appointment for that afternoon.  B the time we got to the doctor's office, he was walking a lot better, but still had a wierd limp.  His doctor checked him out completely and said there was nothing that he could see was wrong and that it was a good sign that he was improving.  Well, by the time we got home he was a lot better, and by the evening, no one could tell that there was anything wrong earlier.  Bill was kind of making fun of me for overreacting, but the whole thing was just too wierd.  Our doctor did say that if his limp was combined with a fever then it would have been a serious matter.  So I overreacted a little bit, but I just wanted to make sure everything was okay.

Later in the afternoon we picked up Nani and followed Papa on Uncle RJ's bike and went to visit Uncle RJ and Auntie Sonnia to watch the UFC fight.  Jacob had a great time playing with the pool balls and jumping all over their couch.  he was tired because at a little before 8pm he ran over to me with his arms in the air and when I picked him up he immediately put his head on my shoulder.  He fell asleep withall the screaming downstairs and stayed asleep until I picked him up to leave.

Sunday morning we went to church and the Sunday School teachers say he improves every week.  They said he played a lot this time despite the crying and reaching out for us as we dropped him off.  After church we went to lunch, came home for a nap (for both the boys) and then headed over to Auntie Vanessa and Uncle Phil's new house to go SWIMMING!  Jacob had a great time swimming and playing with his trucks he took.  He met a new friend, LT (Little Theo).  The boys had a great time together.

THis morning we were back to our normal routine.  However, after his nap, he woke up in a good mood, but I must have done something to upset him because he had a MAJOR tantrum and cried, kicked and screamed on the floor for 15 minutes.  Every time I thought he was calming down I would pick him up and try to give him some of his lunch, but he started screaming even louder and arching his back so back down on the floor he went.  Finally, he calmed down and ate his lunch.  Gosh, those are real trying times when he acts like that.  Daddy even came down to see what he could do to help.  Unfortunately, in times like that, there is nothing anyone can do to calm him down.  It stinks, but I guess that's what toddlers do!  YIKES!

Tomorrow is Little Gym day so he'll get to let off some steam there...so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!
