Catching Up (again)
It's been almost 2 weeks since we last posted. I guess I was a little busy preparing for Auntie Vanessa's baby shower (which was a SUCCESS!) and then we got sick :(
last Saturday was Auntie Vanessa's baby shower. Daddy had Jacob all day long and from what I heard, the morning started out rough, but they ended up having a great time together. Sunday we went to the park in the morning and then after Jacob's nap we went to the LA County Fair. Jacob had a great time in the petting zoo and had to run away from the llama and goat that were trying to steal the food! He also enjoyed the kids hall where he saw lots of bugs and played with trains and stuff. Jacob slipped and slided in the snow they had. The snow was pretty icy and difficult to walk on, but not for Jacob. I especially had a hard time keeping up with him on the snow. Daddy took Jacob on a sled and he loved it. They looked like they had so much fun that mommy had to take Jacob for a run too!
Jacob woke up on Monday with a bit of a temperature and a runny nose, so we stayed in on Monday and Tuesday just to make sure he was okay. He was pretty bored at home. I could tell he just wanted to get outside and run around. Wednesday he seemed to be doing a lot better, but mommy was the one not feeling well. We went to Stroller Strides anyway so Jacob could see his friends and play. He had a great time and was glad to be out in the open again.
Thursday night we babysat Jacob's friend, Malaya, while her mommy and daddy went out to dinner for their anniversary. Jacob was so excited to have his girlfriend spend time with him at his house. They were so cute playing together. It was different having a little girl in the house. She was playing with Jacob's train station and calling it a house...oh the difference between boys and girls. The two of them were so excited to be playing with eachother that they didn't want to eat dinner. Jacob is really gentle with her...I guess he knows that she's a girl and needs to be more gentle with her. He didn't try to hit her and didn't
even try to take away any of the toys she's playing with. I don't think I've ever seen him like that!
Jacob's vocabulary has been expanding like crazy in the last month. He knows a lot of his colors now, blue, red, green, orange, purple, and yellow. He still gets a little mixed up when you ask him what color something is, but sometimes he gets it right...lucky guess, I think. He is also learning his alphabet more. He will at least repeat almost all of the letters, but still doesn't completely recognize them. The other day he said, "I see airplane" when in fact, he saw an airplane. I was so proud of my little monkey. We were at the library the other day and there was a picture of a walrus on the wall and all of a sudden he pointed to the walrus and said "walrus"! WHAT?!?! I don't remember teaching him walrus. It was so cute. He has also started to say his own name, it doesn't completely sound like Jacob, but it's close enough. He also says a few of his friends names, Malaya, Christian, Cooper and Liam. His favorite cartoon is Elmo's World and the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Bill taught him all the characters name on the Mickey Mouse show, so at the beginning of the show when they introduce the characters, he names every one of them, Donald Duck, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Minnie and Mickey Mouse. He gets so excited about doing that too. If daddy is watching with him, he will rewind that part and let him do it again. The two of them together are so funny. He still LOVES his motorcycle and train and all of his cars. He is such a boy.
so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!

Jacob took his second annual trip to Yosemite on September 3rd. We spent the night at Nani and Papas and then left the house at 4am on Wednesday morning. Jacob fell back asleep after an hour on the road and slept for a good portion of the trip. We watched lots of Elmo videos on the way to Yosemite. He also entertained us with his version of a chicken pawking (is that how you spell that?). When we got to camp, Jacob was already in heaven. He helped the boys set up camp, showing them how the rods worked while setting up the tent. After some lunch we went and sat by the river and Jacob watched his daddy,
Papa, Uncle RJ and cousin Corty dunk themselves in the river. Jacob stood on shore throwing rocks in the water. He also had fun riding on his motorcycle around our campsite. That night we had a bear in the campsite two away from us. Papa, uncle and daddy all got up to try to shoo the bear away, but the bear got into the bear bin and was feasting on the people's food and was not about to be shoo'd away. So daddy got a picture of the bear with Uncle RJ. Jacob slept through all the noise.
Mommy shared her cone with Jacob and then he thought it was his and would NOT share with mommy. he loves his ice cream! It was so funny when I asked if I could have some ice cream he said "no" and then moved his cone as far away from me as he could get it. Then daddy asked if he could have a lick and
he gave his cone to daddy. Little stinker, I guess at that moment he like daddy more than mommy.
home.
