Another Accomplishment
Jacob had another first this morning. He finally went poo poo in the potty! WOO-HOO! I was so excited for him and he was so excited about it too. I saw him standing in the corner looking like he was doing his thing. As usual, I didn't say anything because we've decided that we aren't going to push the poo poo thing right now. He then came over to me and said that I had to change him because he had poo poo. We went into his restroom and when I pulled down his pants, he had no poop. Then I saw his little face trying to either push something out or hold something in and he looked like he was in pain. so I held his hands and told him to just push it out. He stood there for a little bit with nothing happening. I asked him if he wanted to sit on the potty and mommy would hold his hands and he said no. We stood there for a little longer while I continued to encourage him to push it out. I asked again if he wanted to try to go on the potty. he said YES! So I sat him on the potty and continued to hold his hands and rub his back. I told him that it would be fun to hear the poo-poo "plop" in the potty. A few seconds later he strained his face and then a few seconds after that, I heard a "plop" I was so happy for him and again, the look on his face was priceless! He got off the potty flushed the toliet and came and gave me a big hug. We went into the room and called daddy at work right away. Jacob was so excited to tell his daddy that he went poo poo in the potty! Of course daddy was very proud of him. Let's hope this trend continues.
We have been completely diaper/pull up free since Sunday. He's done so well with no accidents except for poo poo until today :) I can't believe how well Jacob has done with the potty training. He holds it during his nap and at night and wakes up and immediately goes to the potty. I am so proud of him!
On another note, for the past couple of days, we've had the bed guard down during his naps and at night time. He's did pretty well with not falling off the bed, until last night. He has gotten really close to the edge, but never fallen off. Well, last night I was up (my lovely pregnancy insomnia) and all of a sudden I heard a "thump" and then crying. I went into his room and he was on the floor in a very strange looking position. Poor baby. I picked him up and he just clung to me. I sat him back in his bed and he seemed to be okay. I took a closer look at him (in the almost complete dark) and noticed his lip was bleeding. Poor thing, I think he must have hit the metal part of the guard on his way down. I gave him some water and that made him scream...I think the cup touched the part of his lip that was bleeding. So, I brought him in our room and he fell back asleep, leaving no room for me to lay down, of course. So after about 45 minutes, I took him back to his room. The rest of the night he was up every two hours. Is he getting me ready for having a newborn in the house again?
Lately, he has totally been off his schedule. He's falling asleep REALLY late (9:30 - 10:00) and waking up really late (9:15ish), which is fine except I really don't like him going to sleep that late and waking up that late. We have to find a way to get him back to his normal 8:30pm to 7:00am wake up time.
We'll update more on the potty training as more progresses!
so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!
