Jacob had his 18 month check up this morning.  Here are his stats.  weight:  24lbs 13oz (somewhere in the 20th percentile).  Length 34 1/4 inches (somewhere in the 95th percentile).  So we still have a long skinny child!  He did okay during his appointment.  When Dr. Kotures was asking me about his developmental progress, Jacob was climbing all over me and the chair I was sitting in.  I guess he didn't need to ask me about his climbing abilities.  However, when it came time to check him out, Jacob was a crying mess.  I was afraid he was going to kick the Dr. so I spent most of that time holding down his legs.  He also had to get three shots today.  He definitely did not like that.  The nurse really struggled to hold down his legs.  I think she had her entire body weight on him to hold him down. He is super human strong when he is upset. Maybe we should call him "The Hulk"  His checkup went well.  He is in good health and on target developmentally.  I was a little concerned about his language development, but the Dr. assured me he is on target.

After his appointment we met Christian and Malaya at California Adventure.  We all went on the new ride, Toy Story Mania (or whatever it's called).  Jacob did okay on the ride, but about half way through, he snuggled a little closer to me.  He enjoyed his ride on the carousel, riding on the sea otter.  His most favorite part was running around with Malaya in the animation place.  It was nice and cool in there and he liked running around to the music and trying to catch the spotlights on the ground.  He fell asleep during lunch so he didn't eat much today :(  When we got home he started playing with his train set.  He loves that thing, but also gets so frustrated with it.  If the car gets stuck he gets upset.  He was actually on the ground for 15 minutes crying his head off.  When I tried consoling him he either pulled out my hair (yes, he had quite a few pieces of my hair in his hand when he pulled away) or tried biting me.  So he was back on the ground.  Finally I couldn't take it anymore and since it was about 5:30, I went to get daddy for reinforcement.  The little stinker stopped crying right away with daddy!

We have new neighbors a few houses away and we finally met them tonight. They have three young children, 9, 5 and 3.  Jacob played with all of them with no problems.  I think he had a good time playing while we were talking to their parents.  He cried when we told him it was time to go home.

New things he is doing...when something doesn't go well, he say's "oh no."  It sounds really cute.  He is also trying to jump but he can't get both feet off the ground at the same time so he hops from one foot to the other.  Tonight when I was brushing his teeth, I noticed his two top canines peeking through.  Could this be the reason for all the crabbiness?  About a week and a half ago I bought a preschoolers devotional book.  We have been reading from it most nights (we missed a couple because we got home late and he was already asleep when we got home).  After we read from it, we tell him we are going to pray.  We taught him to put his hands together and then either Bill or I will say a prayer for him.  He is so adorable with his hands folded.  We pray before we eat, but we've never had him hold his hands together, because we are usually holding his hands when we pray for dinner.  So it's something new for him.  He has been sleeping in a little later each morning.  He used to wake up every morning at 6am, but lately it's been more like 7 and a couple of times he's woken up after 8!  He has also been going to bed later at around 8 or 8:30 so this explains his late wake up time.  I am definitely not complaining about the later wake up time.  I either get to sleep in or can get a few things done before he wakes up.  He loves pointing out parts of his body, but his most favorite right now is his tongue.  He LOVES showing us his tongue.  He is also getting better at closing his mouth when he gives us kisses.  He will even add the "MOWA" after his gives me a kiss.  Daddy has also taught him to "pound it" when he gives his fist to another gut to "pound"  He is so funny because instead of his hand facing down in the fist, it's facing up, so it's an upside down "pound."

I know he is doing more fun stuff. But I'm tired and can't think of anything else right now, so when I do I will write more.  So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!
