Brushing Teeth
Our little guy is getting to be such a big boy. In the past, Jacob has hated the idea of mommy brushing his teeth. He LOVES holding his toothbrush and sucking off the toothpaste, but kicked and screamed whenever mommy brushed his teeth. It literally took two of us to brush his teeth each night. I feel bad for only brushing once a night, but it's impossible to do it by myself in the morning. Tonight was a totally different story. He has been such a good boy lately. Tonight after his bath it was time to clip his nails. In the recent past he's been putting up a fight about clipping his nails. This evening he willfully allowed me to clip his nails while he just sat there and watched. He didn't even have a story read to him nor was he watching his favorite TV show. Then we read his usual stories and then it was the dreaded brushing of the teeth time. I told him, okay, let's lay down so mommy can brush your teeth now. Bill got into position to hold him down, but it was not needed. He scooted himself down to lay himself in position and opened his mouth and let me brush with no crying, screaming, or kicking involved. It was the best tooth brushing we've ever had. I couldn't believe it. Bill and I were so proud of him. I told him we would go and buy him a new toothbrush tomorrow since he was such a good boy about letting mommy brush his teeth. It's time for a new toothbrush anyway, so this is perfect timing.
I hope this is a new trend we are embarking on. Now maybe we can get some good teeth cleaning in after breakfast and lunch too :) So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!
