About Jake
We had quite the weekend. It started Friday night when we went to Disneyland with Jacob's friend, Malaya and her parents, Lora and Matt. We all had such a great time that we didn't want to leave, but when we realized it was already 9:15 we thought it was time to go. Jacob didn't get to sleep until 10pm on the way home!
Saturday morning we took Jacob to the park. While there he was running around like a crazy kid. All of a sudden he was taking a step and falling, kind of funny. He didn't cry or act unusual, except that he couldn't walk right. He got back up, took another step and a half and fell again. I thought something was wrong, but didn't say anything to Bill. Then Bill got him and took him on the jungle gym (carrying him). After going down the slide, Bill was holding his hand as he walked and I noticed a slight limp. Bill let him walk on his own and he took a couple of steps and then fell again. We took off his shoes thinking there was something wrong with his shoe, but no, he was still walking funny. We left the park in search of an Urgent Care. I called his doctor and made an appointment for that afternoon. B the time we got to the doctor's office, he was walking a lot better, but still had a wierd limp. His doctor checked him out completely and said there was nothing that he could see was wrong and that it was a good sign that he was improving. Well, by the time we got home he was a lot better, and by the evening, no one could tell that there was anything wrong earlier. Bill was kind of making fun of me for overreacting, but the whole thing was just too wierd. Our doctor did say that if his limp was combined with a fever then it would have been a serious matter. So I overreacted a little bit, but I just wanted to make sure everything was okay.
Later in the afternoon we picked up Nani and followed Papa on Uncle RJ's bike and went to visit Uncle RJ and Auntie Sonnia to watch the UFC fight. Jacob had a great time playing with the pool balls and jumping all over their couch. he was tired because at a little before 8pm he ran over to me with his arms in the air and when I picked him up he immediately put his head on my shoulder. He fell asleep withall the screaming downstairs and stayed asleep until I picked him up to leave.
Sunday morning we went to church and the Sunday School teachers say he improves every week. They said he played a lot this time despite the crying and reaching out for us as we dropped him off. After church we went to lunch, came home for a nap (for both the boys) and then headed over to Auntie Vanessa and Uncle Phil's new house to go SWIMMING! Jacob had a great time swimming and playing with his trucks he took. He met a new friend, LT (Little Theo). The boys had a great time together.
THis morning we were back to our normal routine. However, after his nap, he woke up in a good mood, but I must have done something to upset him because he had a MAJOR tantrum and cried, kicked and screamed on the floor for 15 minutes. Every time I thought he was calming down I would pick him up and try to give him some of his lunch, but he started screaming even louder and arching his back so back down on the floor he went. Finally, he calmed down and ate his lunch. Gosh, those are real trying times when he acts like that. Daddy even came down to see what he could do to help. Unfortunately, in times like that, there is nothing anyone can do to calm him down. It stinks, but I guess that's what toddlers do! YIKES!
Tomorrow is Little Gym day so he'll get to let off some steam there...so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!
