EEG
Last Wednesday, June 10th Jacob had an EEG. It was an interesting day for us. He had to go to sleep late, so we put him in bed at about 9:30 and then I woke him up at 4am Wednesday morning. He woke up fairly easily and asked to watch "Dinosaurs" this movie he was really into watching. So he came in bed with us and watched the entire movie. Then we went downstairs and he played with his trains all morning. His appointment wasn't until 1:30 and we had to make sure he stayed awake the entire time. He had no problems with it, it was mommy and daddy who needed a nap ;) On the way to the hospital, I sat in the back with him to make sure he didn't doze off. As we got off the freeway, his eyes started to close and it was all we could do to keep him awake the last couple of minutes.
He was such a good boy when we finally made it into the room. He layed them still as could be while they put the probes on his head. Then daddy laid in the bed with him and once they turned off the lights, Jacob started crying. After trying for 18 minutes, he finally fell asleep. The test was only supposed to last 20 minutes, but fortunately the tech extended it to 30 minutes so that she could get information while he was sleeping. He was asleep for about five minutes and she tried to wake him up with no luck. He was out and snoring like an old man. Bill carried him to the car and even though there were sounds of jack-hammers and breaking glass outside, Jacob didn't even budge from his sleeping position. As soon as Bill put him in his car seat, he was awake and didn't fall back to sleep until 8:30 that night! I don't know how the kids goes without sleep, but I guess he's just more interested in what the awake world has to offer rather than the dream world.
I have to say that despite his lack of sleep, he was a very good boy on Wednesday and even on Thursday. Usually when he has a lack of sleep on one day, it's the next day that it hits him. But this time it was different. He's been a really good boy lately. Anyway, we should hear results from the tests in about 2 weeks. I am praying that nothing is found on the test and that his seizures are due solely to fevers, something he will eventually grow out of, by the age of 5 says the doctors.
Mommy and Daddy were so proud of him on Wednesday so on Thursday he got to go to Toys R Us and pick out a new train...he piced out Gordon and hasn't let go of him in a week :)
So until next time...mommy and daddy love you!
