First day of "School"

Gosh it's been over a month since we last wrote.  Guess I've been busy or too tired to write.

Today Jacob had his first day of Parent Involved Pre-School.  He did great.  When we got there he played on the playground for a few minutes, then we went inside the classroom and he played with a few toys.  He was a good boy and shared the toys and kept moving from table to table playing with different kids and different toys.  Then the teacher said it was time to move into a different classroom for carpet time.  Jacob ran down the hall, by himself, with me trying to keep up with him and sat on the carpet just like all the other kids.  I was so proud of him.  He sat as the teacher said some announcements.  Then we all stood up for the pledge of allegiance.  Jacob didn't quite get the hand over the heart thing, but he tried.  We sang a couple of songs and then counted the stars and stripes on the flag.  After that all the 2 year olds went to another room to do a craft.  Jacob found some scissors and started playing with them.  He cut his first piece of paper, an umbrella, with a lot of help from mommy.  He glued his umbrella and a bunny onto the paper and then colored some rain and grass and a rainbow onto the paper.  He was so proud of his work.  He walked up to the front of the classroom and showed his teacher.  She held up his paper for all the class to see what a great job he did.  It was so adorable and you could tell he was so proud of his work.  He also colored on a packet with the letter "R" so "R" was the letter of the day.  He enjoyed coloring the rocket (one of his favorite things right now).  Then it was time to go outside for a song on the grass.  We all got into a circle and went around and said our names.  Jacob was being a little shy and didn't say his name, but he did well participating in the circle song.  After that we got to play on the playground for a little longer and then it was back in the classroom for some stories and more songs.  It was then time for snacks.  His snack was juice, peanut butter crackers and a rice krispie treat.  Boy did he enjoy those crackers, he ate all 6 of them.  After that it was time to go.  I was so proud of him, he was a good boy all morning and did everything the teacher asked him to do.

As a treat we joined his friends Anabeth and Malaya at McDonalds for lunch.  Jacob just ate apples and a couple of french fries because he had such a big snack only minutes earlier.  He was so exhausted from his morning that he fell asleep on the way home.  I cannot say how proud I was of him today.  It kind of made me sad that he really didn't need me today.  He was such the big boy, being able to hold his own and follow directions from the teacher.

When he woke up from his nap Jacob, daddy and I spent some time in the backyard playing.  Jacob is getting a lot better at making baskets with his basketball and then he moved onto putting the basketball on the baseball tee and hitting it with a bat.  I don't think he quite understands that a baseball goes on the tee, but whatever, he was having fun!  he was getting really good at hitting that basketball far with the bat.  Now we just have to move on to hitting the smaller baseball and we'll be in good shape.  Our backyard is now a small sports park.  We have the basketball hoop, the baseball tee, a bouncy ball and some golf clubs and balls.  Hmmmm...wonder if Jacob's going to be athletic?

Later this evening we joined Grandma and Grandpa for dinner at macaroni grill.  Jacob was a good boy at dinner and enjoyed coloring on the table with the crayons.

I will update on what's been going on this last month.  Not a whole lot has gone on, but we'll make an update soon!

So until next time...mommy and daddy love you and are so proud of you, our big boy!

  1. How impressive! I wish I could be there, but at least I can grow with Jacob through your blogposts! Would you have ever imagined Jacob doing all of this? I'm sure it makes you really proud!!

    I love you, Missy!
