Jacob's randomness

Jacob does so many cute (and not so cute things) so this blog entry is devoted to detailing those before we forget them.

Thankfully the tantrums have come to a full and complete STOP!!!  Thanks to Dr. Gladstein's advice, we have seem to curb the tantrums.  So now, when Jacob is upset at something (like me) he pushes out his lips, as though he was going to kiss someone and gets a sour expression on his face.  His eyebrows come close in together and he is pouting for a minute or so.  It is the funniest thing to see.  He makes sure he points his lips at me.  I ask him if he wants to give me a kiss and then he jerks his head away from me quickly to let me know he is upset with me.

Lately in the tub he tries to swim.  He will lay on his tummy and keep his head above the water.  He still doesn't like it when his face gets splashed with water so he makes sure that he keeps his face dry.

EVERYTHING is a choo-choo or choo-choo track.  He gets packets of gum, unwraps each piece of gum and lines them up to make choo-choo tracks.  He also has gotten into the paper plate a couple of times and made a choo-choo track around the kitchen and nook.  He will line up markers, crayons and anything else to make choo-choo tracks.

He loves tunnels.  He calls overpasses tunnels.  The freeway onramp closest to our house is a downward curve that goes straight under a "tunnel."  Each time we get on the freeway, he raises his hands and says "WEEEEEEEE" as we drive on the onramp.  When we go under the "tunnel" he still has his hands up and says "tunnel." When we are out of the tunnel he waves his hand behind him and says "bye tunnel"  It makes me laugh everytime he does this.  There are days when he does this two or three times and it never gets old to him.

While driving on the 71 freeway, we pass by a large shopping center.  Recently Jacob has started counting the buildings as we quickly pass by.  He usually says "one, two, one, two" unless I help him out by saying "three"  If I say "three" then he will continue on until the number 9 and then clap his hands because he is proud of himself.  I have not actually counted the number of buildings we pass, but it will be interesting for me to do so and see just how many there are.

During the day and random times he will come up to me and say "hi mama" and then just walk away and continue to do whatever it was he was doing.  He also does this to his daddy.  He will go up to Bill, wave his hand and say "hi dada".  too cute!

I don't know if I've already posted about this, but in case I haven't...When Bill gives me a hug in front of Jacob, Jacob will drop what he is doing and run over to us and squeeze in between us.  It's a contest between Bill and I to see who he faces to give a hug.  I think I usually win out :)

Jacob likes privacy while taking care of "business"  If I try to say something to him while he's in the middle of it, he will tell me "no no no no" while waving his hand at me.  then I know a diaper change will be in the very near future.

At night when we put him in his crib for bed time he will usually cry for about a minute or so and then he gets his blanket, big mickey mouse, small mickey mouse, and pillow and throws them one by one over the crib onto the floor.  Then when there is nothing left he starts to take off his socks and throws them, one by one, over the crib.  One of us will go in and put everything back and then he falls asleep within a minute of us leaving his room.  I think this has become our nightly ritual.  How are we going to get that one to stop?

He will pick up anything that resembles a phone (banana, the sound monitor, tv remote), put it to his ear and say "hi Malaya." Today "malaya" wanted to talk to me.  So I "talked" to "malaya" and then gave the phone back to Jacob where he then said "bye bye Malaya"  he's definitely into imaginary play now :0

Today we finally went back to church.  He was such a good boy in Sunday School.  Bill and I prepped him all morning and when he got there he saw all the toys and said "play!!!"  He was so anxious and excited to get in there to play.  He must have done really well in there because we got no pages :)  I think he had a bit of a meltdown at some point because when we picked him up his eyes were a little pink.  Nonetheless, daddy got him popcorn after church for being a good boy.  We are so proud of him!

so until next time...mommy and daddy love you!
