About Jake
Well we have a lot of catching up to do. In the last couple of weeks Jacob is really starting to become a big boy! He is feeding himself with a spoon and fork, most of the time. He can feed himself applesauce, fairly sufficiently. There is still a bit of it that lands up on his shirt, but most of it is landing in the mouth. He will also feed himself food that we put on the fork for him and then he will pick up the fork and put the food in his mouth. He really enjoys feeding himself. He smiles after each successful bite. He is now finally drinking out of a sippy cup. One day last week I gave him some apple juice in a sippy and he liked it and really started tipping the cup up so he could get more. He loves drinking his milk and water and once in a while some juice out of his cup. This morning was his last official bottle of milk. His two afternoon "bottles" and evening "bottles" of milk were given from a sippy cup. So I have all the bottles washed and put away, he doesn't need them anymore. He is also having his pacifier less and less. He doesn't have it during the day anymore. The only time we give it to him is when he is going to sleep. He is "talking" a lot more and becoming more animated when he "speaks" He doesn't have anymore words yet, but we are working on that everyday. Bill taught him how to blow kisses last week. He puts his big hand over his open mouth and then throws his arm out. Sooo cute. He loves playing with his cars and trains. He will roll them on the floor and make car noises. He is such a boy. He also loves playing in the sand at the park. He got a new shovel and bucket and loves filling the bucket with sand. When he make a castle, he LOVES to break them down...he's actually more excited about doing that than he is about digging in the sand and filling the bucket up.
Here is the BIG news!!!! He is sleeping through the night. I cannot believe it. The last two weeks have been wonderful sleep nights. I think there were a couple of nights when he cried because the paci was on the floor, but for the most part, he is going to sleep sometime between 7:30 and 8:00 and not waking up at all until sometime between 6:30 and 7:30, depending on the day. AMAZING. I forgot what it is like to sleep through the night. I'm still waking up in the middle of the night, but I'm sure that I will too be able to sleep through the night again :)
Last week he got another hair cut. We got it cut short so that it lasts this time. It was only a month ago that we first cut his hair and he definitely needed another one. He was a little more ancy this time but he was a good boy overall.
Last Thursday we went to Disneyland with Drew and Christian. The boys had fun together. We went on Peter Pan (Jacob's first time), Dumbo, Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Carribean, Buzz Lightyear (Jacob's first time), Casey Jr. Train (Jacob was clapping along to the music) and Alice in Wonderland (Jacob's first time). They all loved the rides and loved running around together when we let them free. Jacob wanted to walk everywhere, but most of the time he had to be in the stroller because it was a bit crowded. He was able to walk the lines on his own though and he loved it.
This past weekend Jacob spent Saturday and Saturday night with his Nani and Papa. Bill and I had a day and night to ourselves which was really nice. Daddy joined mommy and Jacob for Stroller Strides in the morning, then we played at the park for a while and the we took him to Nani and Papas. I guess they went to the park for a couple of hours after Jacob's nap and they all had a great time together. Nani says she wants to have him every other weekend. I don't know about that often, but maybe once a month!
Today after Stroller Strides all the kids listened to a story that Miss Kelly read and then they made a Valentine. This is Jacob's first official craft project. He had a green heart and then using a Q-tip for the paint brush and chocolate pudding as the paint, he painted the heart. Somehow he knew that the "paint" was actually food because he put most of the 'paint" in his mouth and less of it on the heart. We had to use several Q-tips so that we didn't "double dip" The heart is beautiful and when we got home he took the heart to his daddy to show him what he made. So adorable. I will definitely save this one FOREVER!
