Potty Training Cont...
Wednesday was a good day for us. I had to be brave and actually go out in public with him since we had NO FOOD in the house. So in the morning after he went pee pee in the potty we made our way to Henrys. As we were walking out the garage door, he turned around, put up his hand and said, "stop mommy, go set the alarm" WHAT?!?! I giggled to myself and told him it was okay because daddy was home working upstairs so I didn't have to turn the alarm on. He looked at me and said "daddy working upstairs?" I said "yes" and he said, "ok" and turned to open the door to the garage and walked out. This little guy is more observant than I give him credit for. I was so nervous about him peeing in the middle of Henry's that when we got to the store, I made him go into the restroom to try. He got up on the potty and said, "all done" almost as soon as he got up there, which meant that there was nothing coming out. He made it the whole time shopping just fine. When we got home, I knew it was about time for him to be going again, but instead of taking him to the restroom right away, I got all the groceries out and started putting them away. Well, as I was doing that, he starting yelling "pee pee" and was running to the bathroom. Unfortunately, he didn't make it in time, but at least he got the point. I blame that one on me. I know I should have sat him down as soon as we got home.
He went down for his nap and woke up with a dry pullup, however, he DID NOT want to sit on the potty. I don't know if he woke up in a bad mood or what, but he was SCREAMING that he didn't want to go pee pee on the potty. He was so loud that Bill even came out of the office to see what the heck was going on. I thought maybe he didn't want to go on the potty upstairs, so I tried downstairs and it was the same thing. Oh no!!! are we already regressing? So after about 20 minutes (and still a dry diaper) of calming him down and attempting to explain to him why he has to go sit on the potty, we finally made our way to the potty and wouldn't you know it, he actually went pee pee. Again, the smile on his face was so cute. After he wiped himself, flushed the toliet and pulled his pants up, he came to give me a big hug and said "I go pee pee on the potty." I love that he is so proud of himself when he goes on the potty.
Well since I still needed to get a few more things from the store, I decided to press my luck again and go to Walmart. About every 5 mintues I kept asking him if he had to go pee pee and he always said no, which he was right. When we were leaving the lady at the door gave him a happy face sticker and I told him that was because he was a good boy and didn't wet his chonies in the store. When we got home this time, I sat him on the potty right away and yep, he went again. I kind of suspect that he is holding his pee pee when we are out and about, which is fine with me for now, but not when we are going to be out all day in the future.
Last night was Concerts in the Park. I really wanted to go so he could see and play with his friends since it's been a long time since he had really been out of the house and playing. So despite Bill's hesitation, we went. I figured I had a change of clothes and we were going to be on the grass, how bad could it be? Well, he did GREAT! He had so much fun running around playing chase with his friends. He was so hot, his hair was WET!!! Again, I kept asking him if he had to go potty and he kept saying no. So when we were driving home I asked him what were going to do when we got home, and he said, "go pee pee in the potty" and yep, that's just what he did!
I can't begin to say how proud I am of him. He's doing so well with the potty training.
This morning he woke up in a much better mood than he has in a long time. His pull up was wet, so I figured he wouldn't have to go pee pee, but I thought we should make it routine that when he wakes up he has to try to go. So I asked him if he wanted to go sit on the potty and he said yes. So since we were upstairs, we went to the potty in his bathroom. He sat there for a few seconds and then said "this one is not working, I go on the potty downstairs" HUH?!?! Does he think that it's the potty that makes him go pee pee? I was laughing and told him that we could try the potty downstairs, so there we went. He sat down on the potty downstairs and again nothing came out. Then he looks at me and said "This one not working either." Oh my gosh, I got the biggest smile on my face and told him that maybe he just didn't have any pee pee in him right now. That was the cutest thing he said.
I decided to venture out to the jumpy house to really test his skills. When we got there, he tried going potty, even though he went at home (in an accident because I was upstairs while he was already downstairs and I didn't hear him say he had to go potty...BAD MOMMY!). He spent 3 hours there and we tried going pee pee twice while there, but nothing came out. He had a blast there running around and jumping all over the place. When we got home, he was a good boy and went pee pee in the potty and then went down for his nap.
Again, I can't begin to say how proud I am of my big boy. I love to see the expression on his face when he actually goes in the potty. now we just have to work on going poo poo. I have a feeling that he is holding it in and is going to be constipated soon. I really don't want that to happen but don't know what to do about it. Do I continue to put him on the potty when I see him trying to poop, or do I just let him poop in his pants so that it just comes out already? Hmmm...I'll have to figure it out soon!
So until next time...mommy and daddy love you and are SOO PROUD OF YOU!!!
